Ones to Watch: LetsGetChecked

Ones to Watch header

Business & Finance highlights some of the top movers and shakers in Ireland.

What is it?

LetsGetChecked is a diagnostics platform linking customers and laboratories for self-testing. The company was set up 18 months ago.

Customers can provide a finger-prick test (blood) or a urine sample to diagnose a range of ailments from the privacy of home without the need to visit a clinic. Customers can also purchase test kits in pharmacies and perform the tests in-store. Should a customer test positive, the LetsGetChecked nursing support team will make contact by phone and provide same-day consultation in a private clinic.

Who’s behind it?

CEO Peter Foley holds an LLB in company and medical law from DCU, and a master’s in business management from Smurfit Business School, UCD.

He completed a graduate programme in corporate and commercial banking with KBC Bank and then entered the private healthcare market.

COO Ronan Ryan is a founding member of a number of successful companies such as Sonru.com and Ezetop.com. He started his career as a chartered accountant at PwC.

How is it funded?

To date, the company has raised €420,000 in funding, with plans to raise an additional Series A round over the coming months.

Shareholders have been invaluable in assisting LetsGetChecked with international expansion.

Future plans?

In Q1 2016, LetsGetChecked will be expanding into major European and US markets and the company has secured a number of major contracts and partnerships to facilitate this transition. The scope of LetsGetChecked’s testing options will expand in due course to cover sexual health, cancer screening, lifestyle, fertility and genetic testing.
