With the announcement of 200 new cabin crew for Aer Lingus ahead of its busy summer schedule and growth across north Atlantic markets, the airline is enjoying a positive 2017.

Formed in 1936, Aer Lingus is the flag carrier airline of Ireland.

The organisation is synonymous with excellence across many fields and the announcement of an increase in cabin crew numbers points to an airline focused on success.

The 200 new recruits joining the company will operate flights across the Irish airline’s European network of more than 100 routes.

During training, the newly-qualified cabin crew from Aer Lingus’ in-house training academy located at Dublin Airport covered a range of topics, from theoretical and practical components and health and safety procedures, through to grooming and guest experience.

It was also announced recently that Aer Lingus’s parent company IAG has recorded a first-quarter operating profit of €170m, a figure €15 higher than the same period during 2016.

This is a record Q1 performance for IAG, traditionally its weakest quarter, with the improving trend in passenger unit revenue continuing.

In the first three months of 2017, IAG capacity was higher by 3.3% with increases across all regions.

A large factor of this success for IAG is Aer Lingus’ continued its growth across north Atlantic markets.

LONDON CALLING

Aer Lingus has also announced additional flights and earlier services, adding to its already significant business offering considerably.

The morning London Heathrow flight will leave Shannon at 7.30am and arrive at 9.05am. The return morning flight will depart from London Heathrow at 9.50am and touch down in Shannon at 11.15am. An extra daily flight from Cork to London Heathrow will also be available.

This summer there will be also five daily services from Cork to London from Monday to Saturday. The extra flight will leave London Heathrow for Cork at 12pm and arrive at 13.20pm. The return afternoon flight will depart from Cork at 2.30pm and touch down in London Heathrow at 4pm.

FOUR-STARS

Earlier this year, the airline has been confirmed as the most punctual major airline departing Dublin Airport for flights to Europe in each of the 12 months of 2016.

Additionally, in recognition of its consistent quality and excellent guest experience, Skytrax World Airline Awards has rated Aer Lingus at four-stars, making it the first and only Irish airline to receive such a prestigious rating.

Skytrax is the world’s leading independent authority on airline quality. Its rating system is recognised as the front line standards benchmark for the global airline industry.

As well as being the only Irish airline to have a four-star rating, Aer Lingus is also the only four-star airline connecting Ireland and the US.
