Business & Finance highlights notable new appointments this week at Sodexo, IT recycling company AMI and Accenture.
Margot Slattery, Global Chief Diversity Officer; Julie Ennis, country president in Ireland
Sodexo
Margot Slattery, the current country president for Sodexo in Ireland, becomes its global chief diversity officer from September 1st. Julie Ennis takes over as country president. She will combine this with her current role as managing director of corporate services in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Margot has won numerous awards and accolades for her work in promoting diversity and inclusion in Ireland and abroad. She will continue to be based in Ireland and will have responsibility for the strategic direction, implementation and alignment of Sodexo’s integrated global diversity and inclusion initiatives. Her appointment follows the retirement of Rohini Anand as global chief diversity officer, who was based in North America.
Commenting on her new role, Margot Slattery said, “I have always been a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and this for me is a dream role on the global stage. It’s going to be a very interesting and rewarding journey and I am leaving our business in Ireland in the extremely capable hands of Julie Ennis, under which it will continue to grow and thrive.”
As the incoming country president, Julie Ennis now has corporate governance and directorial responsibility for growing the various business segments – corporate, government, education, healthcare and homecare that operate in the Republic and Northern Ireland.
Commenting on her new role as country president, Julie Ennis said: “I am delighted for Margot as she has been a true leader for diversity and inclusion in Ireland and abroad and I wish her every success in her new role. I’m also delighted to be taking Sodexo’s business forward in Ireland. It is an exciting time for the business, and we see considerable potential for growth.”
Sodexo Ireland has recently been successful in winning high-profile services contracts, the new clients include Mason Hayes & Curran, named 2019 Law Firm of the Year for the Republic of Ireland at The Lawyer European Awards.
Sodexo employs approximately 3,700 people in over 230 locations in Ireland and Northern Ireland, with a combined turnover of €141 million in 2018.
Derval Rooney, Financial Controller
AMI
Secure IT recycling company AMI has appointed Derval Rooney as financial controller. She brings extensive cross-industry experience in the financial sector to her new role. AMI enables organisations in the public and private sectors across Ireland and the UK to safely dispose of their ICT assets and minimise the risk of harmful data leaks.
This newly created role will see AMI bring its outsourced finance function in-house. Derval will also be responsible for providing AMI with greater oversight and accountability for its financial performance across all service lines. As a member of the senior management team, Derval will also help drive AMI’s growth and performance strategy, overseeing the execution of long-term business plans.
Derval has a wealth of experience in the finance industry, having held roles across all aspects of finance, from auditing to corporate finance to in-house accounting. Prior to joining AMI, she held the position of financial controller for Belfast-based software company, Automated Intelligence, for two years. Derval was responsible for the day-to-day control of financial operations, and worked closely alongside sales, marketing and professional services departments.
Previously, Derval held positions as a client services senior accountant for Augentius, corporate finance senior with KPMG, and audit assistant manager with Deloitte.
Derval holds a number of financial qualifications including a First Class Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance from Queen’s University Belfast and is a qualified member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
Jacky Fox, MD of Accenture Security in Ireland
Accenture
Jacky Fox has been appointed managing director of Accenture Security in Ireland. As part of the Accenture executive management team, Jacky leads the firm’s security business in Ireland.
Alastair Blair, senior country managing director, Accenture in Ireland commented: “With cyber security being critical for our clients, I am delighted to welcome Jacky Fox to Accenture as she takes the helm of our dedicated security practice. Jacky’s breadth of experience and her deep knowledge of the sector will further drive Accenture Security’s presence in the market, as we help our clients protect themselves against both sophisticated and unknown threats.”
Jacky joins Accenture with 20 years’ experience in technology and security, having advised leading Irish and international organisations on managing their cyber risk. In her most recent role at Deloitte she led the Irish Cyber Security and IT Forensic practice. Prior to that she worked with Dell as a senior security specialist providing end to end consulting to government and financial services clients.
Jacky was recently appointed as vice-chair for Cyber Ireland – a national cyber security cluster that provides a collective voice to represent the needs and challenges of the cyber security sector across the country. In 2018, she was awarded ‘Security Champion of the Year’ in Ireland for her contribution to the Irish security industry and her mentorship and encouragement of women in security.
Jacky holds an MSc in Digital Investigations and Forensic Computing and is a certified forensic analyst and industrial control systems professional. She lectures on the MSc in Cyber Security programme at University College Dublin and is an active researcher and publisher in the digital forensics and cyber communities.
