Equinix, the world’s digital infrastructure company®, has announced a $350 million investment in Dundalk, Co. Louth. The investment could rise to $700 million to build a 150,000 sq. ft. advanced energy facility.
The project will create hundreds of skilled jobs, with recruitment already underway for 200 engineers and technicians. Apprenticeships and training programmes will support long-term regional talent.
The facility will manufacture power equipment for Equinix data centres and AI workloads. Key products will include low-voltage switchgear, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Remote Power Panels (RPPs).
Equinix is partnering with Hanley Energy, recently acquired by Jabil, to operate the facility and co-locate production under one roof. This allows Equinix to achieve 10–15% faster lead times compared to traditional procurement methods. The facility features Ireland and the UK’s only Enhanced Level 3 SATELLITE™ Customer Testing Facility. Intertek certifies the lab, ensuring it meets the highest global standards.
Construction will prioritise low-carbon materials and efficient building practices. The agreement is set for five years, extendable to ten, with a minimum annual spend of $70 million.
CEO of Hanley Energy, John O’Driscoll, said, “Partnering with Equinix on this transformative project highlights the strength of Irish engineering and innovation.”
The announcement was made in the presence of the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin and IDA CEO Michael Lohan.
Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA, said, “This initiative is set to deliver significant economic benefits and high-value jobs in Dundalk and the wider region.”
Adaire Fox-Martin, CEO and President of Equinix, added, “This investment builds upon Equinix’s longtime presence in Ireland and reflects the strategically important role the country plays in the global technology ecosystem. Our expansion in Dundalk further strengthens our ability to meet growing customer demand while creating local jobs and supporting the community.”
