In this role, which is one of the first of its kind in the Irish Market, Sinead will work to expand JH’s alternative legal solutions offering. As Ireland’s leading Alternative Legal Solutions provider, Johnson Hana is uniquely placed to advance the role of legal operations on these shores.

A qualified lawyer, Sinead, has been working at the intersection of the legal and tech industries for the last 12 years. Her experience spans time in private practice, advising domestic and international clients on M&A and corporate transactions in large international law firms. Sinead left private practice to found a technology startup, before joining Brightflag, a fast growing Irish scaleup in the enterprise legal management software space, as Director of Legal Operations.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Dan Fox, Founder and CEO of Johnson Hana, said, “We couldn’t be happier to have Sinead join us at this pivotal point of the company’s growth. Legal Operations as a discipline can bring such incredible value and velocity to legal departments of all shapes and sizes. Be it the strategic prioritisation of work, resource management or technology deployment, there are huge opportunities to transform legal operations for the better. This will enable us to scale our offering for clients with more firepower to meet their growing regulatory compliance, restructuring and budgetary pressures. Sinead is the ideal person to partner with our clients to bring global best practice to the Irish market.”

Sinead will bring an in-depth understanding of client needs as well extensive experience in setting and delivering strategic mandates, deploying technology applications, and benchmarking financial and project management initiatives in the legal sector – in order to create the capabilities that empower lawyers to focus on providing high-value legal advice.

Speaking on her appointment, Sinead added, “Now, more than ever, legal departments are required to streamline and operate as data and output-driven business units. We’ve witnessed the rapid growth of Alternative Legal Solutions in the US and UK over the past decade, and to be at the forefront of the evolution of the space in Ireland is very exciting. As the first and leading alternative legal solutions provider in Ireland, the JH team have truly disrupted the legal sector here. JH have helped corporates navigate stubborn resistance to change – reconfiguring delivery models to allow for a more innovative, efficient and client-oriented approach to service delivery. I look forward to helping deliver dynamic impact and operational excellence for JH’s clients with even more depth.”

Eileen O’Mara, board member,
eDesk

eCommerce customer service specialist eDesk has appointed Eileen O’Mara, the EMEA revenue and growth lead at payments platform Stripe, in the post of non-executive director.

Responsible for strategically driving scale across EMEA  at the financial infrastructure firm, O’Mara will bring her considerable tech experience from working across global operations and share it with board members including eDesk CEO Alex Payne and founding chairman Ray Nolan. Prior to joining Stripe, O’Mara has held  senior international roles in revenue and marketing at Salesforce and Oracle, using her expertise to consult on transformative technologies.

O’Mara’s insight will be invaluable as eDesk continues to grow and support the global surge in eCommerce. As the only helpdesk software provider truly specialising in eCommerce – with native integrations with every major marketplace, Web platform, email provider and social network in Europe and the USA – O’Mara’s guidance on growth will help the company expand and grow internationally.

Her appointment to the board comes fresh from eDesk enhancing its Reviews and Feedback tool to tighten integrations with Amazon, Trustpilot and Google My Business. The update saw the company discover 90% of UK and US online shoppers with an issue will talk to customer services, offering retailers a golden opportunity to catch them before they turn into negative reviews. eDesk also introduced a batch of data-driven tools earlier this year with the latest release of their eDesk customer service software, doubling down on the commitment to provide online sellers the means to intelligently manage customer queries.

Commenting on her new eDesk appointment, O’Mara says: “After a year in which more people turned to online than ever before, digital adoption accelerated globally by an estimated seven years. As a result, there was a crucial uptick in correlating helpdesk tickets, rising to one-in-six from one-in-eight, so it’s never been more critical for ecommerce sellers to invest in tools that can unlock sustainable growth. Having spent the last 20 years working in businesses where customer experience is crucial, I’m very excited to provide guidance to eDesk’s founders in the booming eCommerce space and help them drive success for their customers.”

Ray Nolan, eDesk chairman and founder, adds: “I’m delighted to welcome Eileen to the eDesk board. Her experience of delivering business growth on an international level is highly impressive and she’ll be an asset to the team, particularly as we continue to drive international scale.”

Alex Payne, CEO of eDesk said: “We are very much looking forward to Eileen bringing her wealth of experience to our business, as well as her understanding of the ecommerce technology ecosystem to our thinking”.

“Local news publishers need support from Government to develop strategies to aid our transition to digital formats and act to ensure the survival of the printed product. This is vital for our communities and our democracy.
