New and notable appointments at OFX, Scurri, EY and Principal Connections

There were new and notable appointments this week at  OFX, Scurri, EY and Principal Connections. 


Ciarán Barr, Non-Executive Director,
OFX

Recently-established international money transfer and foreign exchange services provider, OFX, has announced the appointment of Ciarán Barr as a Non-Executive Director of OFX Ireland. A Chartered Accountant, Ciarán has extensive experience across financial services, pharma, travel, and telecommunications industries, in both CEO and CFO leadership roles.

Ciarán has extensive international experience having worked for GE for over 14 years in business unit and head office roles, including leading the International Capital Management function, PRA
regulatory capital lead, JV leader in Korea, and GE Capital Ireland. Belfast born, Ciarán is an accomplished sportsman having played hurling for Antrim for which he won an All-Star award, played water polo for Ireland, and is the COO of the GPA (Gaelic Players Association).

Commenting, Maeve McMahon, CEO and growth leader for Europe said:

Ciarán Barr commented on his new role:

OFX offers an  alternative to banks for businesses who trade across borders and to consumers who send money overseas.


Heather Reynolds, Chief People Officer,
Scurri

Scurri, the Delivery Management platform that prvides software to assist eCommerce ordering, shipping and delivery process for online retailers, has appointed Heather Reynolds as its Chief People Officer.

Heather has over 25 years experience directing Service Delivery incorporating Operational Excellence, People Leadership and Strategy development. Prior to her appointment at Scurri, she previously held the role of CEO and Co-founder at Eishtec DAC, which was acquired by Infosys BPM.

Heather has also been heavily involved as a Lead Mentor over the last 10 years in Enterprise Ireland initiatives supporting Entrepreneurship in Ireland across Going for Growth, Acorns and Back for Business programmes. Heather holds a Business Degree and an Executive MBA.

“We are really excited to have someone as experienced as Heather join our team, and her role will be important as we continue our scaling goals for 2022 and beyond. It is a busy time for ecommerce, and I believe having Heather on our side will be a massive support as we continue to strive towards our goals during this period,” said Rory O’Connor, founder and CEO of Scurri.

Scurri, which currently derives over 61% of its revenue from the UK, is looking to ramp up operations in this market throughout 2022 and beyond, following annual growth of 100% both in transaction volume and value. The team at Scurri is hiring across Engineering, Product, Support, Sales and Marketing in line with the scale-up.

Shane MacSweeney, EMEIA Infrastructure Leader,
EY

Shane MacvSweeney, EMEIA Infrastructure Leader, EY

EY has announced the appointment of Shane MacSweeney to the role of EY EMEIA Infrastructure Leader. Shane has worked as Partner and Head of Government and Infrastructure at EY for over five years and will retain this role in addition to his new position. 

In Shane’s new role, he will assist clients across the EMEIA region to deliver on a range of projects, including the strategic, financial, procurement and operational issues associated with large-scale infrastructure projects, and by helping governments strategically manage capital and transactions, asset sales, and divestments. As an advisor, he will work across multiple jurisdictions, sectors and asset classes.

With over twenty years of experience working on large infrastructure projects globally, Shane has advised Governments and private sector Clients in Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Since joining as a Partner in EY’s Strategy and Transactions team, Shane has worked with Government and corporate clients to provide commercial, financial, and economic advisory services in the infrastructure field.

Darren McCabe, Partner,
Principal Connections

Principal Connections — executive search, part of Agilium Worldwide LLC, has announced the appointment of Darren McCabe to Partner.

Mr. McCabe joined Principal Connections – executive search in early 2017 as a Practice Leader and during his time has established an exemplary reputation for assisting clients with executive search services at C-Suite and Board level across a range of industries. Previously, Mr. McCabe held Senior Management and Director positions over a 10 year’ period with a number of Irish and global recruitment firms.
