This week sees new and notable appointments at OpenSky, Workair, Wayflyer, Hume Brophy, Bolt, Aviva, and Quintas


Gopal Ganeshan, Head of Projects Delivery,
OpenSky

Enterprise automation specialists OpenSky has appointed Gopal Ganeshan as Head of Projects Delivery in its Digital Services Division. This key appointment is a result of OpenSky’s continued growth. It will enable the company to meet the expanding demand among public sector organisations and large private enterprises for its specialist digital transformation services, particularly in the areas of automation, database management and cloud services.

Ganeshan, who previously served as Software Development Project Manager at OpenSky, has more than 12 years of experience in technical development projects and project management. He focuses on database management, cloud services, and customer relationship management systems.

Michael Cronin, Managing Director at OpenSky, said: “This appointment will further enable OpenSky to meet growing demand from public and private sector clients who are on their digital transformation journeys and who are seeking to harness the power of AI and process automation to work more efficiently and effectively and to unlock the insights hiding in their disparate data streams.”

Workair

Workair, the provider of business phone systems and call centre solutions, announced the appointment of Pat Moynihan as a Non-Executive Director and his election as Chairman of its board of directors. Pat’s experience spans over 30 years, primarily as a senior IT executive in the Telecom and Retail sectors.

During his career, Pat has held a variety of senior executive positions. He started his career with Quinnsworth (now Tesco Ireland) before joining Vodafone and then O2. He led both the IT departments and the product development functions through times of very rapid change within both organisations. More recently, Pat has been IT Director and CIO for Primark.

Pat Moynihan said: “I am delighted to join Workair as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman. There are several reasons why I agreed to take up this role, in particular, the calibre of people involved and their vision to improve customer engagement and company productivity using cloud communication technology. Wayflyer, the revenue-based financing and growth platform for eCommerce businesses, recently confirmed Shane Lowry as its official brand ambassador as part of a three-year partnership announcement. Lowry is also a Wayflyer investor after contributing to the tech group’s $150m Series B funding round.

Shane Lowry, an Irish professional golfer and Open Championship winner, has launched his ambassadorship for Wayflyer. He cemented the partnership with his premier to LinkedIn, coupled with a light-hearted video series where he assumes the Head of Business MetaFores. By blurring the lines between business and sport, Lowry helps eCommerce business owners understand more about how they may access money to help them grow.

The videos were launched on Lowry’s LinkedIn profile and take an honest look at LinkedIn’s tendency to equate golfing analogies with business performance. As well as describing himself as an ‘industry-leading Dad’ and ‘an ambitious eCommerce investor’, Lowry also appears to have trademarked the term METAFORES™ – to describe golfing metaphors used to describe business. The light-natured videos proved a hit on the professional networking site, amassing nearly 65,000 impressions in just 24 hours.

Christopher Mehigan, Managing Director, Transport & Mobility,
Hume Brophy

Hume Brophy, the sector-led, political, regulatory and campaigning firm, announced the appointment of Christopher Mehigan to the newly created Managing Director, Transport & Mobility role. Mehigan will lead Hume Brophy’s international practice on transport and mobility worldwide, driving growth and strategy.

Hume Brophy has an exceptional and long-established track record in transport and mobility globally. Mehigan will continue to work alongside co-founder John Hume, widely regarded as one of the leading strategists in this sector.

John Buckley, Operations Manager for Rentals,
Bolt

Bolt, the largest micro-mobility operator across continental Europe, continues strengthening its Irish team by appointing John Buckley as Operations Manager for Rentals in Ireland. Buckley joins Bolt following the launch of the firm’s first Irish electric bike rollout in Sligo, with a number of other cities and towns under consideration.

Bolt is preparing to invest €5m in expanding its e-bike and scooter operations in Ireland, part of a bid to build a multimodal platform providing a sustainable alternative to private car ownership. Bolt with services in more than 200 cities and 20 European countries.

On joining the team, John Buckley said: “Bolt is at an exciting point in its development in Ireland, with really ambitious plans for growth. I’m eager to unlock the positive benefits micro-mobility options can bring to the country whilst staying acutely aware of any concerns held by Irish cities and towns about the introduction of new transport modes.”


Stephen McCarthy, Chief Financial Officer,
Aviva

Stephen McCarthy, Chief Financial Officer of Aviva

Stephen McCarthy has been appointed Chief Financial Officer at Aviva Insurance Ireland. He has worked with Aviva for eight years, having held senior positions in Ireland, Canada and the UK.

Before this appointment, McCarthy was Head of Corporate Development with Aviva Group plc., leading acquisitions and disposals that were instrumental in the reshaping of Aviva. He is a qualified actuary and worked with Zurich in Ireland prior to joining Aviva in 2014.


Michael Jeston, Corporate Insolvency Practitioner,
Quintas

Quintas, which specialises in accountancy advice and support to Irish SMEs, has announced the appointment of Michael Jeston as its new Corporate Insolvency Practitioner. Jeston has joined the firm from SV Partners in Brisbane, where he served as an Associate Director, leading a team specialising in corporate and personal insolvency appointments.

Jeston brings over 11 years of experience to the Quintas team, having worked on insolvencies across several sectors, including retail, manufacturing, professional services and transport and logistics.

Mark Ryan, Banking & Insolvency Partner, spoke on the appointment: “We are pleased to welcome Michael to the Quintas team. He has significant experience in overseeing voluntary administrations and court liquidation appointments.
