Executive Insights: How Aviva drives Diversity, Equality & Inclusion

In this episode Sarah Freeman, Managing Editor of Business & Finance, interviews Brian O’Neill, Head of Communications, Sponsorship & Corporate Social Responsibility at Aviva Ireland.

Aviva

Aviva was the recipient of the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion award at the 2022 Business and Finance Awards, in association with KPMG.

The Diversity, Equality and Inclusion award celebrates companies that contribute to improving the lives of their employees while also enhancing the civic environment in which they operate. Northern Trust received the award at the awards ceremony in 2021.

Aviva provides over 30 million customers with insurance, savings and investment products. The company operates in 16 markets across Europe, Asia and Canada.

The Business & Finance Awards judges said that Aviva represents each of the company’s 1450 employees in Ireland through their Pride, Balance, Carers and Availability committees.

Aviva has also achieved increased gender parity in leading roles. Women are now in the key roles of CEO, CFO and CRO, its GI board is 50 per cent female, and its life board is 40 per cent. One of the company’s key priorities is the gender pay gap. Leaders are committed to narrowing the gap by balancing men and women across the organisation at all levels.

Aviva has a number of external initiatives for DE&I including the ‘Lace up with Pride Campaign’ and the Aviva ‘Soccer Sisters’.
