The latest digital edition of Business & Finance available.

Managing Editor, Sarah Freeman, writes: “In this issue, we celebrate the finalists of the 48th Business & Finance Awards who were recognised at the prestigious Gala Ceremony on 1st December. The Awards played host to leaders, innovators and visionaries drawn from the worlds of business, politics, academia and culture. The ceremony featured a number of special honours including the Sutherland Leadership Award and the Outstanding Contribution to Brand Ireland Award.

Ireland and the EU

We also look to the theme of the Awards, that of progress and Ireland’s 50 year membership of the EU. Our cover story by writer and editor, John Walsh, gives a fascinating account of how EU membership helped Ireland to evolve. He describes Ireland in 1972 as a very different country with an economy heavily dependent on agriculture and with people as its main export. It’s a relevant and thought-provoking piece that provides interesting context to Ireland’s place in Europe today.

New book

Also featured is Ireland-EU at 50, a new book from Quartet Books and Business & Finance that acknowledges 50 years since Ireland’s accession to the European Union. Part celebration, part reflection, the book contains numerous contributions from leading business and political figures who have seen Ireland’s journey in Europe first-hand. Here we feature excerpts of contributions from Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission; Paschal Donohoe, Minister for Finance and President of the Eurogroup; John Walsh, Journalist and Editor, and Ian Hyland, Chairman & Publisher, Quartet Books.

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Thought Leadership

A number of carefully curated thought leadership pieces explore the theme of progress through the lens of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (D,E&I) and include resounding calls to action. These respected leaders in the field of D,E&I advocate a more robust culture of those in positions of power speaking up to support others when the need arises.

CEO 100 & Top 100 Companies

We feature the Business & Finance CEO 100 and Top 100 Companies indices, both of which represent excellence in the fields of leadership, strategy, business acumen and an ability to rise to the myriad challenges that have faced the business community over the past few years.

This issue offers insights into Ireland’s competitive advantage, the importance of an evolving agriculture sector and a view on why global cooperation is unnecessary to fight climate change. We hope you enjoy it.”
