Anne Fanthom, Managing Director of Recruitment Plus, takes the Business & Finance 60-second interview.

What was your first job?

Helping my Dad in our family business (he treated everyone with respect and was a fantastic role model). My first paid job was with the National Manpower Service (a government job agency) so technically I started off in “recruitment” of one form and here I am, 30-odd years later still in recruitment!

What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

Creating a business that celebrates 20 years this year and retaining a team of exceptional people that bring camaraderie, enjoyment and challenges to every working day.

In three words or fewer, how do you define success?

Returning customers.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Two pieces of advice: Enjoy what you do and work hard. Cash is king.

How do you motivate yourself and your team?

Our team is one of high energy, self-motivated and full of integrity. I keep them motivated by providing a pleasant place to work, offering opportunities for self-development and always encouraging collaboration.

How do you relax?

Walking my dog, yoga and spending time with family and friends.

What’s your motto?

It’s always been my motto–just be yourself.

What are your aspirations for the future of your business?

To provide exceptional service for every client and candidate and continue to have a great place to work for our team.
