Cormac Dunne is the Managing Director and founder of Pembroke Property. He has over 15 years’ experience working in real estate and finance in various markets including: The USA, Australia, Singapore, Ireland, and other parts of Europe.

What was your first job?

My first full time job was in the Investment Department of Hamilton Osborne King (now Savills) in Dublin in 2005.

It didn’t take me long for me to be bitten by the bug.

Property is such a people business and I just loved the opportunity to interact with people all day and the buzz of negotiating and doing deals.

What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

On a personal level, I’ve two amazing daughters: Anabelle Ivy (4) and Luna May (1). No different to any parent, I see them as my greatest achievement.

On the business front, I’m proud of the diverse experience I’ve gained over the last 15+ years in Ireland and abroad, and the relationships I’ve built along the way. Ultimately, this gave me the belief to take the “leap” and set up my own firm, Pembroke Property.

In three words or less, how do you define success?

Long term relationships.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

I read a quote many years ago on advice that Louis Copeland got from his Dad which was: “Measure twice, cut once.”

It has resonated with me since. Ultimately, as an advisor, clients put their trust in you and there is no room for short cuts in your diligence. Reputation is everything.

How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

I surround myself with like-minded people who are all driven. Bumps on the road are inevitable but I always focus on momentum. Never stop moving.

It think it’s important to have fun along the way too. Enjoy what you do, and who you do business with and celebrate the wins along the way.

How do you relax?

I’m away from home a lot so when I get the time, I spend it with my kids. Not always very relaxing mind you!

What’s your motto?

Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.

What are your aspirations for the future of the business?

In time we may add service offerings to our business, but for now, we will be “sticking to the knitting” and doing what we know well, which is providing best in class, trusted real estate and finance advisory service to our clients.
