Clearview Coaching Group principal coach Fionnuala Power takes the Business & Finance 60-second challenge.
Q. What was your first job?
Making sandwiches in a very overpriced deli.
Q. What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?
My son, Sam.
In my professional life, starting a career coaching business – I’ve always wanted to run my own business and I’m so glad I took the leap last year.
Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Smooth sailing never made a skilled sailor.
I try to look at challenges with this mindset and (try to) welcome them.
Q. If you could step into the shoes of one businessperson for the day, who would it be and why?
Oprah. We can’t even imagine what she had to overcome to get where she is today.
With so many facets to her business in so many diverse areas, it would be fascinating to step into her shoes.
Q. How do you motivate yourself and your staff?
I love what I do from the amazing clients I see to the books and articles I read. Personal development is very motivating to me and now it’s the main focus of my job.
Q. In three words or less, how do you define success?
Authenticity, flow, meaning.
Q. How do you relax?
It can be hard to switch off, but it’s so necessary. I feel so much better when I exercise and it’s a great way for me to make my brain take a break. Connecting with family and friends, in person is so important too.
Q. What’s your motto?
If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.
Q. What are your aspirations for the future of your business?
I hope to grow Clearview here in Cork, to be known as the go to person, to collaborate with the top people and to add more coaches to the business here.
Personal development is very motivating to me and now it’s the main focus of my job
