Founder and director of CaminoWays.com Rolan Monsegu takes the Business & Finance 60 second challenge.

Q: What was your first job?

I was a sales account manager for an IT company in Paris.

Q: What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

The success of CaminoWays.com. I created CaminoWays.com in 2011 and we now employ 25 people, with a turnover of €5m. We also own a 15,000 sq. ft offices in Dublin city centre.

Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Be fast and never be afraid to make a mistake. And never multitask – it’s a complete waste of time.

Q: If you could step into the shoes of one business person for the day, who would it be and why?

Richard Branson is obviously the archetype of the entrepreneur-adventurer that I aspire to be. His business is based on passion, and passion led him to success. But Elon Musk is my ‘digital age’ guru.

Q: In three words or less, how do you define success?

Facilitate, satisfy, reengage.

Q: How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

We all have a passion for travel. We do regular training and staff travel on the Camino at least once per year. We also organise regular nights out.

Q: How do your relax?

I read, I am particularly interested in digital media so I read up a lot on it.

Q: What’s your motto?

Always keep an eye open and adapt to your market.

Q: What are your aspirations for the future of your business?

We will be launching an e-commerce platform to integrate new tailor-made brands and products. We will also launch a digital media company to help the travel industry promote their business online.

Be fast and never be afraid to make a mistake. And never multitask – it’s a complete waste of time

About CaminoWays.com and Greenlife Tours

Roland caminowaysParis-born globetrotter, Roland Monsegu travelled the world and trekked some of the most spectacular trails around, including the Camino, before settling in Ireland. In Dublin, he set up his first walking holiday company in 2006 at the tender age of 25, and went on to establish CaminoWays.com in 2011, specialising on the Camino de Santiago.

His vision was to capture the essence of the Camino and its uniqueness. More than just a walking holiday or a pilgrimage, the Camino is a cultural experience and a bucket list journey. CaminoWays.com organises cycling and walking tours on the different Camino de Santiago routes, covering thousands of kilometres of trails across France, Portugal and Spain.

The team has organised fundraising treks for many charities, as well as groups, and thousands of Camino pilgrims from all over the world travel with CaminoWays.com each year.

CaminoWays.com is now the international leader in its field, the number one operator on the Camino. Since its creation, new brands and heritage trails have also been added to the Greenlife Tours family including FrancigenaWays.com in 2013 and IrelandWays.com in 2015.
