Q. What was your first job?

Packing shelves at my family’s independent supermarket in Swinford Co.Mayo

Q. What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

Beating the recent recession. We were selling promotion items and the first thing to be cut from all budgets were free giveaways.

Q. In three words or fewer, how do you define success?

Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Treat the person who is starting off on the way up with the same respect and dignity as you would treat his boss. As some day he may well be the next boss you have to do business with.

Q. How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

Having a good fun working environment with clear instruction but above all plenty of humour as there are enough stresses in daily life.

Q. If you could step into the shoes of one business person for the day, who would it be and why?

Pat Mc Donagh who has built up his fast food chain to a seamless running business and is now free to add other business models under the one umbrella.

Q. How do you relax?

Loads of music and sport in equal amounts.

Q. What’s your motto?

“The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity whilst the optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”

Q. What are your aspirations for the future of your business?

We are currently speaking with some investors to come on board and enable us to bring all these latest ideas and trends that we are constantly finding in China over the past 20 years onto a successful online trading platform. This will future proof our business model from wholesaler to retailer in a cost-effective way.
