US inbound marketing software company Hubspot has announced its second major Irish investment in under four years, including the recruitment of 320 extra employees.

Massachusetts marketing software firm Hubspot announced an Irish presence in 2012, with news of its European headquarters to be based on Dublin’s north quays at the IFSC.

Fast-forward a few years and the company, which was founded in 2006, has announced a new office space at One Dockland Central, committing to hiring 320 extra employees over three years.

The new facilities include 270 high-tech desks that can convert from sitting to standing at the push of a button, and are complemented by conference rooms, collaboration spaces and ‘nomad desks’, with the company incorporating familiar Irish and Dublin imagery in its office fit-out.

Occupying the third and fourth floors of the building, it also incorporates a fitness room, library, on-site pub with draught beer and arcade games, and a rooftop terrace, as it focuses on building a distinctive working environment.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Hubspot’s growth across EMEA than with a commitment to continued growth and the opening of a bigger, better office in Dublin where we can build on the fantastic work has already been achieved,” said JD Sherman, president and COO. “Hubspot’s Dublin-based team has been core to so much of the success that we’ve seen as a company around the globe over the last three years and I am so excited for the successes that are yet to come.”

The company has also appointed a new managing director of EMEA, Christian Kinnear, who explained further: “Hubspot has just scratched the surface of what we can achieve in EMEA. We’re proud to be leading that charge from Dublin and excited about the outstanding opportunities we can provide employees across all functions. It’s our mission to create remarkable experiences and results for our customers and with the right people, there will be no stopping what we can accomplish.”

Kinnear has been with Hubspot since late last year, when he joined as director of sales. He stepped up to succeed Jeetu Mahtani earlier this year, and the new roles are supported by global recruitment director Declan Fitzgerald.

Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland, welcomed the announcement. “We are incredibly pleased to see Hubspot increase its commitment to Ireland and its efforts to build a company with not only a strong corporate culture but with strong Dublin roots,” he said. “In its few years in Dublin, Hubspot has created fantastic opportunities across all business functions and we’re excited about the opportunity that they will continue to bring to the city as they grow.”

The company was founded by Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah and offers a suite of inbound marketing software solutions including blogging, SEO, social media, websites and email products. It employs over 1,000 in Cambridge (Massachusetts), Singapore, New Hampshire and Sydney, as well as Dublin.

Its initial Irish investment, announced in September 2012 to open the following January, involved the creation of 150 new jobs on the back of 200% year-on-year international growth. The company now has over 18,000 customers in more than 90 countries.

About the head of Irish operations

Christian KinnearChristian Kinnear is managing director of EMEA at Hubspot. Kinnear joined Hubspot from Google’s Dublin office where he served most recently as their international head of Sales Development.

Together with Declan Fitzgerald, Hubspot’s global recruitment director, Kinnear is focused on establishing Hubspot as a leading employer in Dublin for workers from across Europe.

He is responsible for coordinating the company’s sales strategy across key regions for growth.

In addition to his enthusiasm for sales, Christian is an avid fan of rugby. He has also received a certificate of appreciation from the French government for the time he spent working there as an archaeologist.
