Connectivity company Magnet Networks launch first totally integrated smart connected system for businesses in Ireland.

Smart Business by Magnet Networks is the first totally integrated smart connected system for businesses in Ireland.

Engineered to suit small and medium-sized businesses, Smart Business by Magnet Networks combines intelligent intrusion detection, video surveillance, access control and energy management in one mobile app.

Smart Business and Smartzone

The connectivity company have partnered with Cork-based Smartzone to bring Alarm.com’s technology to a commercial Irish setting for the first time.

Alarm.com are global leaders in smart technology, a €3.4bn company with 1,200 employees who service over 7 million properties.

“Smart Business by Magnet Networks gives owners a complete view of their business from their phone, and will provide massive cost savings and peace of mind,” said Magnet Networks Managing Director Ireland Stephen Brewer.

As connectivity improves throughout Ireland, businesses are demanding more from their technology and are signing up to multiple cloud-based services. However, up to now, there has not been a one-stop shop for smart – a single platform that will enable all aspects of business premises to be controlled remotely.

The platform allows business owners to manage their complete premises remotely, putting the business ‘to sleep’ by shutting off all non-essential energy usage and reducing energy consumption according to the company.

Mr Brewer continued, “Everything is wireless, modular and easy to retrofit and utilising Magnet Networks Dedicated Internet Access lines, a business can become both smart and secure overnight.

“The app owner can assign roles to employees and they are notified if their business opened late or closed early. They also receive reports and insights into day-to-day activity.”

Energy management

Energy management is a large feature of the Smart Business system as heating and cooling are ‘colossal costs to companies.’

Justin McInerney, CEO, Smartzone said, “With automated schedules and rules, your heating thermostat can adjust to the proper temperature in each zone throughout the day.”

The dashboard allows the business owner to view multiple locations and pinpoint activity such as unexpected entry after hours, or doors propped open that could cause energy waste or safety concerns.

McInerney continued,

The patented system prevents burglars from crashing and smashing the system by disabling the panel, a common occurrence in burglaries. The smart locking system also features fully-integrated commercial access control and the owner can assign unique codes for employees, or remotely lock and unlock doors for staff and deliveries at any time.

“It will allow an owner to know whenever a sensitive area of the business – such as an office – is accessed, and if there is activity when there shouldn’t be.”
