Portwest, the Westport-based supplier of workwear and PPE, recently celebrated 10 years of success in the United States with a prominent billboard in Times Square in New York City. The company is our Company of the Month April 2024, in association with KPMG.

Westport-based supplier of workwear and PPE Portwest celebrated 10 years in the United States with a large billboard in early April, 2024.
The billboard, located in Times Square in New York, acknowledges and celebrates the company’s commitment to providing safe workwear to people across America.
Mayo GAA
The billboard was erected in time for a match between Mayo GAA and New York GAA in the Connacht Championship on Sunday, April 7.
Mayo defeated New York at Gaelic Park. It was a 2-21 to 2-6 victory for the Maritime County.
Portwest invited Mayo fans visiting New York City to gather in Times Square the day before the game to join them in celebrating ten successful years in business in the USA.
Over 3000 attendees showed up put to turn Times Square green and red, the county colours.

Founded by Charles Hughes in 1904, Portwest is an industrial safety distributor that specialises in fire-resistant and high-visibility workwear, as well as personal protective equipment. They produce protective clothing for the mining, building and security industries. The company is one of the fastest-growing workwear companies in the world.
Harry Hughes is CEO of Portwest. Hughes runs the company with his two brothers, Cathal and Owen.
The company currently employs over 4,500 people across the globe. The company operates global distribution from a network of bases in Ireland, the UK, Poland, Dubai, Australia and the USA, as well as manufacturing facilities in Bangladesh, Myanmar and China, and customer support staff in over 120 countries.
