Creative Generations Launch

A dedicated programme of activity called Creative Generations: Future Horizons will be rolled out across three city centre schools, including St Patrick’s National School for Girls, St Patrick’s National School for Boys and Ringsend College, as part of Templebar Gallery + Studios programme of events for 2014.

The aim of the programme is to enhance the local communities’ ties with the creative arts. Centred around the theme of ‘Future Horizons’, students will focus on their own imaginings of what lies ahead culturally, practically and socially. With studio visits and artists’ workshops, students will be guided through ideas surrounding technologies and self-presentation through social media and future personal spaces. Students had their first visit to TBG+S in March this year and further visits and workshops are planned for the coming months. The resulting artworks from the primary school students will be exhibited in Mason Hayes & Curran, who has just recently renewed their sponsorship of Templebar Gallery + Studios for the second year.

Paul Convery, partner, Mason Hayes & Curran, has been involved with the partnership with TBG+S from the beginning. “It’s fantastic that we are continuing our relationship with Temple Bar Gallery + Studios for another year. The gallery team work with kids to grow their understanding of the creative arts. It’s been great to follow the progression of the programme over the past year and to see the results in our own building when the children exhibit their work is something we all enjoy.”

Jean Mann, art educator with TBG+S, said, “We’re delighted that Mason Hayes & Curran are extending their sponsorship with us. The kids we work with really enjoy the educational programme and it’s a lot of fun as well as being a learning experience for them. Being able to exhibit their own creations is a real highlight and it’s great to have the support of Mason Hayes & Curran.”
