The Diversity in Tech Awards have announced that Dr. Alessandra Sala will receive the Grace Hopper Award.

Dr. Alessandra Sala
A recognised luminary in the realm of Artificial Intelligence, Alessandra Sala is the Senior Director of AI and Data Science at Shutterstock. Having spent the last decade and a half in innovation and research, she is fervently committed to merging innovation with real-world applications.
Alessandra’s dedication isn’t just limited to product evolution; as the Global President of Women in AI, she champions diversity, inclusion, and gender equity in AI’s evolution. This commitment extends to her influential roles as Co-Chair of the UNESCO Women in Ethical AI platform and Governance Committee Chair at the Science Foundation Ireland Centre for Research Training in Machine Learning.
Celebrated for her profound contributions, she won the XV International Prize “Le Tecnovisionarie” in the AI – Industrial Research category in 2021.
Alessandra’s prior stint as the Head of Analytics Research at Nokia Bell Labs speaks volumes of her ability to drive transformative changes and strategic endeavours in the AI landscape.
Alessandra will be giving a keynote address during the Diversity in Tech Awards ceremony, where she will share her insights and experiences in driving innovation and fostering inclusivity within the AI landscape.
Grace Hopper Award
The Grace Hopper Award is one of two special recognition awards given to honourees on the night. In 2023, Carolann Lennon from Salesforce was the recipient. Named in honour of the pioneering computer scientist Grace Hopper, the accolade applauds the extraordinary contributions, leadership, and perseverance of one exceptional woman. She stands as a symbol of empowerment and inspiration for future generations of female leaders in the tech industry.
