LIKECHARITY, the text-to-donate service provider who successfully capitalised on the No Make-Up Selfie phenomenon has announced that it has helped Irish charities to raise €2.5m in just 18 months.
In recognition of this achievement, LIKECHARITY won Supplier of the Year at the recent Fundraising Ireland Awards. The company has revealed that over 500,000 Irish people have donated to charity through their service, which is 15% of the adult Irish population.
The mobile fundraising company was recognised for their dedication to making charitable donating quicker and easier for the Irish public. Over 150 Irish charities now use the LIKECHARITY text-to-donate platform completely free of charge. The company has raised over €2.5m for the Irish charity sector since its creation in January 2013.
“LIKECHARITY’s aim has always been to make fundraising more effective and efficient for charities,” says COO, John Kyne, “and we have achieved this by making donating quick, rewarding and simple for the public. We have been told time and time again that the Irish people are among the most generous in the world and now our platform has proved that. The LIKECHARITY team has been behind several of the major charitable campaigns in the last year including Majella O’Donnell’s head shave live on The Late Late Show and the viral ‘No Make-Up Selfie’ campaign that gripped the nation in March, raising over €1m for breast cancer awareness. More recently LIKECHARITY have raised over €350,000 in mobile donations to help Gavin Glynn, the four year old cancer patient from Greystones in Co.Wicklow who has gone to Texas to receive potentially lifesaving treatment.
The Irish Cancer Society, who nominated LIKECHARITY for the Fundraising Ireland Award commended the company for their innovative approach to fundraising.
