A business line of ESB, Smart Energy Services, plans to deliver €150 million in savings on energy costs for over 300 large businesses in Ireland and the UK by 2020.

Smart Energy Services has teamed up with 200 Irish and UK companies since 2016 and has helped them deliver energy savings of €55 million in that time. It does this by providing services in consultancy, capital funding, energy management and the implementation of energy projects.

The Head of Smart Energy Services at ESB, John Walsh, said: “In response to a growth in demand from large energy users to reduce their energy costs, we are delighted to work with companies in Ireland and the UK to deliver over €150 million in savings. Since its launch in 2016, Smart Energy Services has gained considerable interest from companies with high energy demand and has become a real driver of growth for the overall ESB Group.”

ESB has also announced that it will fund €15 million in energy management and efficiency projects in 2018 to help deliver up to 60% savings for large businesses. Huge companies have seen the benefits of the ESB’s services. Tesco across 148 locations in the Republic of Ireland and Coral Leisure‘s facilities in Cork had a 25% reduction in energy costs.

The Dublin Airport Authority (daa) is also on course for a 33% energy reduction thanks to ESB’s services.
