Fingal welcomes the return of annual Saint Patrick’s Day parades
Fingal welcomes the return of annual Saint Patrick’s Day parades with events set to take place across the county.
In addition to the parades being held in Balbriggan, Blanchardstown and Swords, Fingal will also be introducing a parade in Malahide this year.
Community groups in Rush, Lusk and Skerries will also host celebrations on 17 March.
Locations and starting times:
Swords – 11.00 am
Balbriggan – 12.00 am
Rush – 1.00 pm
Blanchardstown – 1.00 pm
Lusk – 1.30 pm
Malahide – 2.00pm
Skerries – 3.00 pm
There will be over two hundred groups taking part in festivities on the day, with key buildings across the county also being illuminated green to mark the occasion.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Howard Mahony, said: “Saint Patrick’s Day offers a fantastic opportunity for Fingal residents to come together to celebrate our heritage and our history. It is a day for everybody to enjoy, and I’m delighted to say that we will have additional needs areas at our four parade locations this year.”
In order to facilitate the parades, residents are advised that road closures and diversions will be in place at various times on Friday 17th of March. Full details on the routes and road closures are available on the Council website.
