For five decades, Bord Gáis Energy has played a central role in supporting Irish homes, communities and businesses. With proud roots in Bord Gáis Éireann, we’ve built a legacy of powering progress in Ireland. As the country’s energy system undergoes its most significant transformation in generations, we’re building on that legacy to lead the country’s green energy transition, giving customers the confidence to know their power.

Recent years have highlighted just how exposed energy systems can be to global shocks; bringing rising costs, uncertainty and a renewed focus on resilience. Alongside rapid technological change and the urgency of climate action, this is reshaping how energy is produced, used and valued.

With all this uncertainty, customers are looking for clarity, control and practical ways to cut bills, reduce carbon and feel confident about the future. This is driving a fundamental shift at Bord Gáis Energy; we’re moving from traditional utility to modern energy partner.

With more than 715,000 residential and business customers nationwide, our purpose is to energise a greener, fairer future. We have a clear ambition to be a net zero business by 2040 and to support customers on their journey to net zero by 2050. Delivering on that ambition means moving beyond energy supply to integrated solutions that combine trusted advice, smart technology and end-to-end delivery. We’re listening to what people want, investing in solutions that matter, and building the infrastructure required for a sustainable future.

This transformation is underpinned by long-term investment. Bord Gáis Energy is part of Centrica plc, and together we’re investing €1 billion in Ireland between 2024 and 2029 to accelerate the energy transition. This investment is enabling us to deliver innovative solutions for customers while continuing to invest in the critical infrastructure the national energy system depends on.

We have a range of services and solutions which are enabling progress in homes, farms and businesses across the country. All Bord Gáis Energy electricity plans are powered by 100% renewable electricity, and we’re expanding access to the technologies that put customers in control, from smart tariffs and smart heating controls to EV chargers, heat pumps and energy management systems.

Solar energy is also playing a powerful role in this shift. Following our acquisition of Swyft Energy, we’re targeting more than 12,000 solar installations by 2029, across homes and farms, helping customers reduce reliance on the grid and actively participate in the energy system. Our collaboration with the Irish Farmers’ Association is a strong example of innovation that enables us to bring tailored solar installations to farms nationwide.

Through our SEAI–recognised One Stop Shop, we also provide a trusted, end–to–end pathway for deep home energy retrofits, simplifying what can otherwise feel complex. Householders have varied needs and many are overwhelmed by choice. Our role is to meet each of them where they are. For example, a young family in a semi-detached home will take a very different path to a family farm or a small business.  Our One Stop Shop removes the complexity, where we manage the journey end-to-end from assessment to installation.

Our Know Your Power platform reflects a shift from passive consumption to informed, confident, and empowered decisions. It’s a commitment to demystify energy, put control back in customers’ hands, and show that sustainability and affordability can go hand in hand — warmer homes, lower bills and lower emissions.
