What was your first job?
My first “real” job was in workplace training, helping young people gain recognised qualifications through their jobs. It was an early learning experience on how uneven access to education is, and how much a qualification can change someone’s life.
What are your main priorities and goals in your current role?
Three things: growing the business sustainably, helping organisations hire more effectively and equitably, and building an exceptional team.
It’s about holding a clear regional strategy in one hand and real local understanding in the other. Get that balance right, and everything else follows.
What pushed you to pursue a career in this field?
Technology, people, and questioning what actually drives change – that combination makes sense for a tech career.
Hiring technology isn’t just about efficiency – it changes how organisations are built and gives people access to opportunities they might not have had otherwise. That combination of commercial impact and real human purpose is rare.
How do you motivate yourself and your team?
Throughout my career, I’ve been lucky to have worked with bright and ambitious people who have been motivated by building together. I’m driven by creating space for people to do their best work.
Leadership is less about being out front and more about making sure those around you have the room, support, and the spotlight they deserve. I’ve had great people invest in me over the years, and I feel a responsibility to do the same for others.
In one sentence, how would you define success?
Legendary basketball coach John Wooden defined success as “peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable.” For me, it’s not all about outcomes or accolades; it’s about the daily commitment to showing up and doing your best work every day.
How do you relax?
I’m pretty deliberate about switching off at weekends – screens away, no notifications, just time with my family.
My kids play sports, so you’ll usually find me on the sidelines doing my most important job: cheering them on.
What is your favourite (non-business) book?
Greenlights by Matthew McConnaghy – the audio with him reading it is the best, and it’s always a good reminder to look for those moments, even the hard ones, that propel you forward.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
That “your windscreen is bigger than your rear-view mirror” – it’s never left me. The future is always a bigger landscape than the one behind you. Acknowledge where you’ve been, learn from it, then look forward – that’s where the road is.
How do you handle adversity?
I grew up during the Troubles, so I’ve always had a general level of hardiness or fearlessness.
My mum was deeply involved in the integrated education movement, bringing together children from different communities. It taught me that you learn more from people who see the world differently than from those who agree with you.
When I’m navigating competing priorities or complex stakeholder dynamics, I try to bring patience and genuine curiosity. Understanding where people are coming from is usually the fastest way to move things forward.
What are the aspirations for the future of the business?
Greenhouse has a simple but ambitious aspiration: to make hiring work for everyone. Not just for employers, but also for candidates. Greenhouse Recruiting is our core technology, helping organisations run smarter, more structured hiring processes. ‘My Greenhouse’ helps candidates navigate their next move. Both sides matter, and that dual focus is what sets us apart.
