Irish companies agree €5mn joint commercial deal

Leading wholesale distribution company the Barry Group has announced a €5mn joint commercial deal with fuel supplier Bord na Móna to supply solid fuels for autumn/winter 2013.

This significant partnership will see a number of best-selling Bord na Móna products made available in Costcutter, Quik Pick, and BuyLo stores nationwide, along with a number of independent retailers and wholesalers supplied by the Barry Group. In total, this new deal will reach in excess of 200 retailers.

Operating from headquarters in Mallow, Co. Cork, Barry Group manages franchises under the Costcutter, Quik Pick and BuyLo brands. In teaming up with Bord na Móna, Barry Group will now supply the popular Solid Fuel Range, along with the Convenience Fuel range that includes the best-selling Bord na Móna Fire Logs, Firepak and Firemagic. Both traditional and smokeless coal will also be available in in 10kg, 20kg, and 40kg bags.

Speaking at the official announcement, Ken O’Byrne, commercial manager at Bord na Móna said: “Solid Fuel is enjoying a resurgence in recent years as a more economical way of heating the family home, particularly in light of the increase in stove sales. We are looking forward to working with the Barry Group to bring solid fuels to Irish homes this winter in a convenient and cost-effective way.”
