Minister Damien English announced the eircom Spiders Fusion Awards, a new technology awards programme for third level universities, yesterday at a gathering of Ireland’s top 100 technology companies.
The eircom Spiders Fusion Awards will launch later this month and will place a particular emphasis on student led initiatives that aim to disrupt current technology trends and advance innovation in media, digital and technology.
The nationwide awards are an extension of the eircom Spiders Awards programme which has been awarding technology excellence for over 20 years in across the business community and in schools through the Junior Spiders.
Speaking at the launch of the Spiders Fusion Awards, Damien English TD, Minister for Skills, Research and Innovation said: “Growing the number of successful entrepreneurs and start-ups is, and will continue to be, hugely important for Ireland’s continued economic development and growth. I commend programmes like the eircom Spiders Fusion Awards that play a vital role in engaging with young people and help to foster an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship.”
The awards aim to celebrate innovation and digital excellence and start-up endeavours across third level educational institutions in Ireland.
Students, companies, and college societies across all third level institutions in Ireland will be eligible to enter the national awards programme and can register their interest at the Spiders Fusion Awards website.
