Deirdre Kilroy has joined Matheson as a Partner and Head of Intellectual Property.

With over 20 years’ experience, Deirdre is recognised as one of Ireland’s leading intellectual-property law, technology and data-privacy specialists and will head up the area of intellectual property law for Matheson. Deirdre joins Matheson after 12 years as Head of Technology and Intellectual Property with LK Shields. She is on the Intellectual Law and Data Privacy Committee of the Law Society of Ireland.

Chris Bollard joins Matheson as a Partner and will support the firm’s new San Francisco office together with West Coast Head Partner, Mark O’Sullivan.

Chris is a recognised expert in data protection and privacy, IT law, e-commerce and intellectual-property law. He holds an LLM in Law, Science and Technology from Stanford University Law School and speaks regularly on data-protection issues. Chris joins Matheson after eight years at Arthur Cox.

TransferMate, the leading B2B payments platform, is today announcing its appointment of Fabrizio Zanollo as Director of Strategic Partnerships.

Fabrizio comes to TransferMate with over 15 years of experience across technology and financial services at such companies as Inpay, Paysafe and HSBC. Most recently, Fabrizio served as Head of Strategic Partnerships EMEA for Intuit, producers of TurboTax and QuickBooks.

Fabrizio’s appointment to the TransferMate Senior Management Team will see him add to the existing TransferMate strategic partner network across a number of verticals in Europe and globally.

In recent months, TransferMate has significantly bolstered its senior management team, attracting serious talent from across the payments industry. These include the appointment of Rafael de la Vega, former Director of Global Partnerships at Intuit, as North American Board advisor and Gary Conroy, former MD of Realex Payments, as Chief Commercial Officer.

Alan Duffy

Mental health organisation Aware today announced the appointment of Alan Duffy, CEO at HSBC Bank plc, to Chairman of the Board with immediate effect. Mr Duffy succeeds Alan Morris, Managing Director at Morris Consulting after five years of service.

Aware CEO Dominic Layden welcomed Alan Duffy’s appointment: “Alan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board and is the ideal candidate to lead Aware as we enter into a new three-year strategic plan for the organisation. Alan will play a pivotal role in helping us to achieve our aims at a time of significant development as we seek to extend the scale and reach of Aware services. I look forward to working with Alan to continue the great work of Aware in providing support, education and information services to individuals and families throughout Ireland.”

Commenting on his appointment, new Aware Chairman Alan Duffy said: “As a member of the board of Aware since 2013, it has been my privilege to work with dedicated and professional board colleagues. I look forward to assuming the role of Chairman and helping to continue the excellent work by the volunteers and staff of Aware in the critical area of mental-health services.”

Mr Duffy is a Business Studies graduate of Trinity College Dublin, holds an MBA from Smurfit Graduate School of Business UCD and has recently completed his Chartered Director qualification with the Institute of Charted Directors, London.

BDM Boylan Solicitors & Business Advisory, one of Munster’s largest law firms, has announced the appointment of Georgina O’Halloran as a Solicitor with the litigation and employment team.

In her new position, Ms O’Halloran will be working closely with Managing Partner John Boylan and Partner David Browne and the wider team to further enhance the firm’s litigation and employment law team.

Georgina is a graduate of University College Cork and Dublin Institute of Technology. Prior to joining BDM Boylan Solicitors, she worked and gained extensive experience with a large litigation law firm in New York who specialised in defence litigation. Georgina also has extensive experience in the areas of employment law, plaintiff and defence personal injuries work and general litigation.
