New appointments happened this week at Ballybunion Capital Limited, St. Patrick’s Festival, Aircraft Leasing Ireland and the Institute of Directors.

Ballybunion Capital Limited
Ballybunion Capital Limited (Ballybunion) announced the appointment of Orla Philippon as CEO following approval from the Central Bank of Ireland. Ballybunion is an independent boutique asset manager focusing on the premium end of the market.
An experienced funds industry specialist, Philippon takes over from Ballybunion founder Patrick O’Sullivan, who will continue as Non-Executive Director for the firm as well as sit on client boards. Philippon joined Ballybunion in 2018, having previously worked for prominent financial institutions, and has been instrumental in successfully driving the integration project forward following the acquisition of the firm by JTC in 2021.

Richard Tierney, CEO,
St. Patrick’s Festival
St. Patrick’s Festival announced the appointment of new CEO Richard Tierney. As CEO of St. Patrick’s Festival, he will be responsible for managing and operating the nation’s largest celebration of contemporary and traditional Irish arts, culture and heritage.
Richard Tierney is a commercial professional with over 25 years of experience in the live entertainment and sports sector. He has a wealth of experience working with a diverse list of clients, including Musgrave Group, Guinness, Smirnoff, and Coca-Cola as a marketing agency professional, and extensive involvement in the live music industry since 1998 with Ireland’s leading concert promoter Aiken Promotions and Live Nation.

Marie-Louise Kelly, Chairperson,
Aircraft Leasing Ireland
Aircraft Leasing Ireland (ALI) has announced that Marie-Louise Kelly, Chief Financial Officer of ORIX Aviation, has been appointed its new Chairperson. She takes over the role of Declan Kelly, former Chief Commercial Officer of GECAS.
Marie-Louise Kelly joined ORIX Aviation in 2009. Before being appointed to her current role, she held various positions within ORIX Aviation across finance, commercial, corporate planning and structuring. She was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2016, joining the Board of ORIX Aviation in 2018.
Welcoming the appointment, FSI Deputy Director Audrey Crummy commented: “Ireland is the leading centre for aircraft leasing globally and is a high growth sector of international financial services representing $100billion of assets and supports 5,000 local jobs. Caroline Spillane, CEO,
Institute of Directors
The Institute of Directors (IoD) in Ireland, dedicated to developing and improving the effectiveness and performance of directors and boards, announced that Caroline Spillane CDir had assumed the CEO role of the organisation. Among her previous roles, Spillane was Director General of Engineers Ireland from 2015 until she took her position with IoD Ireland. She was the first female and the first non-engineer to be Director General of Engineers Ireland since its establishment in 1835.
IoD President, Imelda Reynolds CDir, said: “We are delighted to have a person of Caroline’s calibre join us as CEO. Caroline is an accomplished leader who has wide expertise in strategic planning and the delivery of results. She is well positioned to further build the IoD and to bring the Institute forward for the benefit of our members and business leaders in Ireland.”
