Kirby Group Engineering
Kirby Group Engineering has announced a series of appointments at board level which have taken effect in recent weeks. These include the elevation of four longstanding team members to the company’s board, while two existing board members have taken on new roles.
The colleagues joining the company’s board are:

Seamus Hayes, Head of Assurance in Ireland,

Xeinadin, one of the leading professional services groups in Ireland and the UK, has announced the appointment of Seamus Hayes as Head of Assurance in Ireland.
Based in Cork, Hayes will lead a dedicated team of over 250 experts to drive growth and innovation across Xeinadin’s network of offices. As part of his role, Haynes will also lead Xeinadin’s sustainability assurance offering, working with clients on understanding the impacts, risks and opportunities of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.

Excel Recruitment has announced the appointment of Charlene Cooke as Associate Director of Excel Recruitment’s Allied Health & Social Care Professionals Division, following its recent acquisition of Charlene Cooke Healthcare Recruitment (CCHR), a specialist Irish recruitment consultancy.
Cook who previously founded and ran CCHR, brings over 20 years of experience in building high-performing allied healthcare teams across private, voluntary, and public healthcare settings.
In her new role, she will lead the recruitment of Radiology, Radiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Psychology, and other key Allied Healthcare roles, providing both contract and permanent recruitment services.

Martin Jensen, Country Manager for Denmark,

Ward Personnel, a leading Irish recruitment firm specialising in the construction and mechanical and electrical sectors, is pleased to appoint Martin Jensen as Country Manager for Denmark.
In his new role, Jensen will support clients’ recruitment needs across Denmark and the Nordic countries as more Irish firms continue to spread their operations across Europe. With a shortage of skilled workers in these regions, there are substantial opportunities for Irish construction and mechanical and electrical firms to work on large-scale projects, including data centre and pharmaceutical construction projects. Ward Personnel’s candidate sourcing network is ideally placed to support these projects, with an office in Poland and a team of established recruiters including native speakers in Polish, Romanian, Croatian and Georgian.
Having trained initially as a welder, Jensen brings over 20 years of experience in the construction and mechanical and electrical industries, across the U.S. and Denmark. Jensen’s extensive experience in the U.S. includes managing construction companies, project management, and the site management of a wide range of construction projects. Martin holds a leadership qualification from Stanford University.

Peter Harty, Inspector of Navigation,
Waterways Ireland
Waterways Ireland, the cross-border navigational authority for inland waterways, has appointed Peter Harty as Inspector of Navigation.
In this role, Harty will promote water safety for all users of Ireland’s waterways, as well as leading and managing bye-law compliance with a team of seven staff working across the Erne System, the Shannon Navigation, the Grand & Royal Canals and Barrow Navigation. Harty will be the principle Marine Safety Advisor for the organisation. The Inspector of Navigation is one of the main Waterways Ireland links with the waterway community including membership organisations such as the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland and the commercial sector represented by the Irish Boat Rental Association, a role Peter is looking forward to progressing.
Harty joins Waterways Ireland bringing a wealth of leadership and operational experience following 20 years military service and more recently private sector project management in Irish health care. Harty’s last five years have been working with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) where he held the roles in operational management and maritime safety.
Speaking on his appointment as Inspector of Navigation for Waterways Ireland, Peter Harty said: “I have a deep admiration and passion for our waterways, and I feel truly honoured to join Waterways Ireland as Inspector of Navigation. This role is a humbling opportunity allowing me to contribute to the stewardship of these remarkable natural and cultural treasures. I have big shoes to fill. I look forward to progressing the safeguarding of our waterways, while promoting their inclusive and safe use for all stakeholders. Through this role, I am committed to helping people live, enjoy and work on our waterways.”
Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in Disaster Engineering and Management, and a Master of Business Administration, complementing his extensive experience in operational leadership, safety management, and organisational development.
