This week sees new and notable appointments at Virgin Media Television, Pepper Advantage, and Huawei Technologies Ireland


Áine Ní Chaoindealbháin, Managing Director,
Virgin Media Television 

Paul Farrell, Managing Director of Virgin Media Television has announced that he will be leaving the broadcaster at year-end with Áine Ní Chaoindealbháin, currently Deputy MD, announced as his successor for the Managing Director role, reporting to Virgin Media Ireland CEO, Tony Hanway.

Farrell was appointed Managing Director of Virgin Media TV in May 2020 having served as Vice-President of Commercial at Virgin Media Ireland since 2015. In this time, he has led the continuing success of Virgin Media Television including the introduction of new channels and digital platforms, yielding higher viewership and increased share of commercial revenues. Prior to joining Virgin Media, he held senior roles with O2, The Irish Times, IPG Mediabrands and Davy.

Managing Director designate, Áine Ní Chaoindealbháin, one of Ireland’s most experienced TV executives, joined Virgin Media Television as Operations Director in 2017, having held senior roles in UTV Ireland, Setanta Sports and Sky News Ireland as well, as working in the independent sector and RTÉ. She was appointed Deputy Managing Director in March 2021 and recently took on responsibility for all commercial operations.

Narinder Auluck, Group CTO

Pepper Advantage, the global credit intelligence company which employs over 580 people in Ireland, announces the appointment of Narinder Auluck as Group CTO, effective immediately. The establishment of this new senior executive position demonstrates Pepper Advantage’s plan to develop new technologies that transform the credit management sector.

A mathematician by training, Auluck has over 20 years of experience in the banking and finance sector leading digital innovation strategies at global banks including UBS, Barclays, HSBC, and NatWest. Most recently, he served as Head of Strategic Projects at Pepper Advantage and drove the creation of new software and AI platforms for the company. Auluck possesses significant expertise in developing innovative credit technology solutions and his promotion reflects the strong progress the company is making in this area. As Group CTO, he will now lead the development of all technology solutions across Pepper Advantage globally.

In Ireland Pepper Advantage is an established credit management firm and the largest residential mortgage servicer to banks and financial institutions, as well as international and Irish investors, servicing over 120,000 loans in Ireland, across all asset classes, making it an integral part of the Irish financial services landscape and community. With operations in Shannon and Dublin, this year Assets Under Management in Ireland are approximately €25 bn.

Calvin Lan, Chief Executive Officer
Huawei Technologies Ireland

Calvin Lan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies Ireland, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices.

Calvin joins Huawei Ireland at a time when the organisation continues to play a central role in the development of Ireland’s digital infrastructure, supporting its customers to deliver fast, efficient, and secure connectivity across the country. 

Speaking about his appointment, Calvin Lan said: “I am very pleased to take the helm at Huawei Technologies Ireland.  As a trusted partner in Ireland for nearly 20 years, Huawei is proud of our Irish business and our integral contribution to Ireland’s digital ecosystem.  Our products and solutions help empower Ireland’s mobile and broadband networks while we continue to focus on creating value for our customers and partners while putting an emphasis on our decarbonization efforts.

Huawei’s products and services serves over 3 million people and supports over 900 direct and indirect jobs in Ireland.

Calvin joined Huawei in 2001 and has held several senior positions within the company, including roles in China, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and more recently as Director for the KPN department in the Netherlands. While there, his work on the KPN account helped the operator achieve the accolade of world’s best mobile network three years in a row. Calvin Lan holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Northwest University, Xi’an, China.
