From 2007 onwards, most of his work was related to HR and staffing industry. Back then, he found that recruitment systems were very outdated. Recruiters wasted far too much time on manual tasks that could have been automated or outsourced. Interviewers relied too much on instinct and did not use data to drive better decision-making. James felt that a little bit of tech knowledge could go a long way.
When James founded Starcircle back in 2007, it was to primarily search for resumes on job boards, matching and submitting to active requirements. Over the years, a new way of sourcing has gradually unfolded.
