Emerald de Leeuw-Goggin is the Global Head of Privacy and AI Governance at Logitech. She will join expert speakers at Dublin Tech Summit to discuss AI, and moving beyond principles and into execution.

Emerald de Leeuw-Goggin is the Global Head of Privacy and AI Governance at Logitech and a leading expert in responsible AI and data privacy. She is also the co-founder of Women in AI Governance.

Her expertise in the field has been recognised with multiple accolades, including PICCASO Privacy Executive of the Year 2023 and the prestigious Women in AI Ambassador of the Year 2024.

de Leeuw-Goggin’s professional journey in privacy began in 2012 when she wrote her master’s thesis on the GDPR and founded one of the first privacy-tech companies shortly thereafter. Her leadership in this field has earned her numerous awards, such as European Young Innovator of the Year and a spot on Forbes’ list of 100 European Female Founders to Follow.

As a speaker, de Leeuw-Goggin is known for her dynamic and insightful presentations at events like TEDx and Davos AI House, as well as at institutions such as UC Berkeley and the European Parliament.

de Leeuw-Goggin will join expert speakers in a panel entitled ‘Ops! AI did it Again!’, about what happens when machines make mistakes at scale and what to do when it’s your AI that screws up.

Business & Finance spoke to de Leeuw-Goggin about what to expect from the panel.

What will you be speaking about at this year’s DTS?

I’ll be speaking about how global organisations are actually operationalising responsible AI; moving beyond principles and into execution. Drawing on insights from policy and executive discussions in Brussels, Washington D.C., and London, I’ll share what it takes to build AI governance that’s agile, scalable, and grounded in business reality.

How has this area/industry changed in the last year?

We’ve seen a sharp shift from theoretical frameworks to operational demand. It’s no longer enough to publish a policy. Organisations are expected to show how responsible AI is built into their systems, processes, and decision-making. That expectation is putting real pressure on privacy, legal, and tech teams to rethink how they work and how fast they can adapt.

What does the future hold — any particular challenges or opportunities?

The biggest challenge is keeping pace, especially when deploying AI at scale. Organisations will need to embed privacy and security deeply into their architecture, not just as compliance features but as design principles. That can mean real investment in privacy enhancing technologies, robust data journey mapping, and edge AI strategies that minimise risk without slowing innovation. The opportunity lies in doing this well: when privacy is built in, not bolted on, AI can be optimised and remain trustworthy.
