Modular Automation has been selected as the winner of the Deloitte Best Managed Company Award for 2014. The winners were announced at the annual awards ceremony which took place at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Dublin on Friday, March 7th.
The Best Managed Companies Awards, in association with Barclays, recognise indigenous Irish companies across the island of Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance.
The companies short-listed for 2014 represented a variety of industries including manufacturing, technology and media, financial services, energy and resources, consumer business, life sciences, healthcare, and hospitality amongst others.
Modular Automation came through an in-depth review by the judging panel. It measured company performance by looking at a broad range of criteria including strategy, capability, commitment, financials and management performance across all key functions of the business
Commenting on the announcement of Modular Automation’s award, Martin Dolan, business development manager said: “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to win Deloitte’s Best Managed Company Award for 2014. Over the past 28 years, Modular Automation has grown from our base in Shannon to become a recognised leader in the automation industry in Ireland. The quality of our people and the standard of our equipment has resulted in continuous growth. We now have a business that is successfully competing in an international market.
“The award testifies that our business model and strategy is proving successful. We have developed a one-stop solution from design and build, right through to software control.
“At every point in our development and expansion, we have recognised that our people are central to our success. It gives us great satisfaction to receive an award that recognises the efforts of the company and all its employees. We know that ultimately it is our customers who will benefit from the dedication and commitment of our people.”
Modular Automation was established in 1986 in Shannon, Co. Clare. The company began designing and manufacturing tools and fixtures. It quickly grew to developing larger machines for high volume manufacturing – due to a strong emphasis on design and advanced CAD capabilities.
10 years ago terminal insertion equipment for the connector industry (phones and automotive) represented 90% of the equipment designed and built at Modular Automation. Today 80% of the customer base is in the Medical Device sector reflecting the transformation that has taken place both in the company and the manufacturing sector in Ireland. Operating from a purpose-built 25,000sq.ft facility the company now employees 85 people.
