This FS Awards webinar features leaders in Fintech exploring the future of Reg Tech, with a specific look at current challenges and trends to look out for throughout this year.
Speaking on the theme are Ian Nelson, Head of Financial Services, KPMG; John Byrne, Founder and CEO of Corlytics, winner of Fintech Team of the Year at the 2024 FS Awards and Chris Hanlon, CEO CalQRisk, winner of the Compliance & Reg Tech Award. Moderating the conversation is Managing Editor of Business & Finance, Sarah Freeman.
John Byrne
John Byrne is the founder and CEO of Corlytics, responsible for setting the company’s vision and strategy. A serial entrepreneur in financial technology, he co-founded one of the first campus companies in Ireland in 1985 and later built Information Mosaic, a global securities software firm sold to Markit in 2015. Since founding Corlytics in 2013, John has been at the forefront of regulatory intelligence innovation. A Stanford Business School graduate with a degree in Electronic Engineering, he is also a board member of CeADAR and a frequent speaker at events like SIBOS and RegTech Summits.
Chris Hanlon
Chris Hanlon is the CEO of CalQRisk, an award winning Regtech solution used by firms across the financial services sector. He is a graduate of the University of Limerick (UL) where he studied Business Studies majoring in Risk Management & Insurance. He is a member of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) and was awarded the International Certificate in Risk Management from the IRM. He is also a member of the Institute of Banking where he obtained several qualifications. Chris is familiar with the risk and control environments of many sectors from his work and has presented on various topics including risk management, compliance, regulatory change management and more.
Ian Nelson
Ian is Head of Financial Services and Head of Regulatory for KPMG Ireland. Ian is responsible for Financial Services markets, which includes Banking and Capital Markets, Asset Management & Private Equity, Aviation and Insurance. Ian has over 20 years’ experience in providing regulatory, risk management and audit services to all parts of the Financial Services markets and is banking and regulatory specialist. Ian’s banking experience includes a secondment with the Irish Central Bank where he was the Head Financial Measures Programme working closely with the Irish authorities and international partners in the ECB, IMF and European Commission.
Ian also works directly with a number of the new entrants into the Irish Financial Services sector such as Fin-Techs and is a FPAI Council Member.
Moderator: Sarah Freeman
Sarah is Managing Editor of Business & Finance and a moderator and MC of live and digital events. Formerly a freelance writer for The Irish Times and Business Post, she has also worked as a radio news journalist for RTE Radio 1 and 2FM. Sarah practised as a Barrister at the Bar of Ireland.
