Sprout & Co. founder Jack Kirwan takes the Business & Finance 60 second challenge.

Q. What was your first job?

I was as a food preparation assistant in Avoca Handweavers when I was 14.

Q. What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

Setting up a business at the age of 24 and growing it to employ over 50 people in three years.

Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Simplify everything!

Q. If you could step into the shoes of one business person for the day, who would it be and why?

Elon Musk. Overseeing three billion dollar businesses must be an amazing challenge – and a time management struggle.

Q. In three words or less, how do you define success?

Being happy.

Q. How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

By myself: reading about other people’s business journeys.

With my team: making it fun.

I believe that in the food industry if you don’t create a positive atmosphere it transfers onto your customers immediately.

Q. How do you relax?

Reading and eating out – not always healthily either!

Q. What’s your motto?

Have a clear strategy and keep a close eye on the small details.

Q. What are your aspirations for the future of your business?

I’d love to see Sprout & Co. operate successfully in multiple cities.
