Imelda Shine, Managing Director, Intertrust Ireland
My first job was a summer position, working at a hotel in Germany. In terms of my first career role, I started with Franklin Templeton in San Francisco. On a personal level, my family. From a professional perspective, working with my colleagues to develop the Intertrust Ireland business from one person in 2009, to over one hundred today. We recently announced the launch of our Irish funds business, which represents another significant milestone in our growth. A difficult question but I would say ‘peace of mind’ which relates to having a broad view of the business, client needs and future developments. Positive growth will ensure peace of mind for me, my team and most importantly, our clients. Over the years, I have been consistently advised to back myself. This has been important to me and something I have tried to impart to those around me. Intertrust Ireland was established in the midst of the economic downturn so believing in our potential and expertise has been very important. Where possible, I look to empower those around me. If I can delegate responsibility in a supportive manner, it encourages buy-in from the team and ultimately gives them a strong sense of satisfaction. There is no one individual as I genuinely have learned so much from so many. The opportunity to apply my experience in a completely different industry would be fascinating, potentially in the area of consumer goods and retail. Work hard and be nice to people. I really enjoy live entertainment across music and theatre which can be very immersive. I like to keep an open mind and appreciate the effort, talent and skill that goes in to such events. Build on our success and continue to develop the business, our team and offering to clients. We particularly want to build on the recent launch of our new Irish fund administration business and carry that momentum of success across the business as a whole. What was your first job?
