Cassandra Seier, Head of International Capital Markets for the New York Stock Exchange, died suddenly over the weekend of 22 November.
Business leaders and colleagues at the New York Stock Exchange were left devastated following the news Cassandra Seier, Head of International Capital Markets, passed away suddenly the weekend of 22 November.
Lynn Martin, President of the NYSE Group, led tributes by saying: “[Cassandra] embodied everything that makes the NYSE team great- a tireless defense of the principles she believed in and a fierce champion of every single customer she touched. While I have known her for more than 20 years, I have seen her passion for customers firsthand over the last 3 years.
“To know her was to know that she had endless energy – she was someone who was laser focused on getting a job done but always found time to offer anyone support and to mentor the next generation of leaders. To say I admired her would be an understatement- stood in awe might be a better expression.”
Ms. Seier had been Head of NYSE’s International Capital Markets since 2022, having previously worked for Goldman Sachs for 24 years. She started her career as an operations specialist in 1996.
At NYSE, Ms. Seier was responsible for attracting foreign issuers from outside the US. She was also President and CEO of the non-profit Women In Financial Markets (WIFM) for 14 years. The non-profit connects professionals in the financial services industry through education, coaching, and mentorship.
WIFM released a statement to say that Ms. Seier’s legacy “is woven into every part of our organization through the programs she championed, the community she nurtured, and the opportunities she created for thousands of women”.
WIFM has also established a scholarship fund in Ms. Seier’s memory.
A spokesperson for the NYSE said: “We are devastated by the news that our colleague Cassanda Seier passed away over the weekend. Cassandra joined us as Head of International Capital Markets in 2022, after a distinguished career at Goldman Sachs. She was integral to our team, and an incredibly strong, vibrant member of our NYSE community. Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.”
Ian Hyland, President of Ireland INC, said: “We at Ireland INC were incredibly saddened to hear of Cassandra’s tragic loss. Cassandra was an outstanding leader and change maker on so many levels and she had such a positive impact on so many. Our thoughts are with Cassandra’s colleagues, many friends at the NYSE and beyond along with her family at this terribly sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.”
Ms. Seier was a graduate of the University of Oregon’s Lundquist College of Business and CFA charterholder since 2004.
