Business & Finance highlights the notable new appointments at Bank of Ireland, Starcom and Esri Ireland.

Michele Greene, New Board Appointment
Bank of Ireland 

Bank of Ireland has announced the appointment to the Board of BOIG plc and the Court of Directors of the Bank of Michele Greene with effect from 5 December 2019. Ms Greene was nominated to join the Board by the Minister for Finance under the terms of the Relationship Framework between the Minister and BOIG plc.

Patrick Kennedy, Bank of Ireland Chairman, commented:

I am delighted to welcome Michele to the Board of Bank of Ireland and look forward to working with her. Her extensive experience, particularly in more recent years as Managing Director of Digital Banking and Director of Strategic Development at Virgin Money, will further enhance the Board’s experience and skills profile in the areas of change and digital and technology innovation”.

Ms Greene over 25 years’ experience of financial services and retail banking, particularly in the areas of payments and digital innovation. Ms Greene held the role of Managing Director of Virgin Money’s Digital Bank until July 2018, prior to which she was Director of Strategic Development, responsible for the Bank’s future development. Before joining Virgin Money, she was CFO of MBNA Europe where she held executive positions on the boards of MBNA Europe Ltd and Premium Credit Finance Limited. 

Emer Lawn, Deputy Managing Director
Starcom  

Starcom, part of Core, Ireland’s largest marketing communications company, has appointed Emer Lawn as Deputy Managing Director. She will also join the Board of the business.

Ms Lawn joins Starcom from Mediaworks, also part of Core, where, as a Board Director, she focused on the development of the team’s digital communication solutions.

A multi-award-winning communications practitioner with a wealth of industry awards, Emer led the team who won the Grand Prix at the most recent Media Awards. She also led the social media services team within Core to winning Social Media Agency of the Year three years in a row.

She is a communications advisor to Quercus, a ‘women in business’ group for Director level women who excel in their fields. She has previously served on the faculty of the Digital Marketing Institute as well as contributing to a range of other industry bodies.

Aisling O’Sullivan has also been appointed to the board, joining current board directors, Anna Doyle and Geoff McGrath. Within the newly strengthened Board, Anna Doyle takes on the role of Client Relationship Director.

Conor Coyne, Executive Director
Kylemore Trust

Kylemore Trust, the parent company of Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Gardens in Connemara, Co Galway has appointed Conor Coyne as Executive Director.

A native of Connemara, Mr Coyne returns to the west following 15 years in Dublin in Senior Management roles with Ervia, Irish Water and Ernst & Young. A member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and holding an MBA from Trinity College Dublin,  he brings a wealth of experience to the West of Ireland’s most high profile visitor attraction.

As Executive Director of the Kylemore Trust, Mr Coyne’s role is to continue to enable Kylemore to develop and grow the infrastructure and product at Kylemore to support the Benedictine Community who will mark 100 years in residence at Kylemore in 2020. Another priority is to increase the visitor experience while ensuring that Kylemore as a visitor attraction delivers a premium, high end, immersive experience to all domestic and international visitors. Mr Coyne will be working directly with the Benedictine Community at Kylemore in developing a strategic vision for the trust as the parent company of Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Gardens and its 1,000 acre estate.

Jonathan Irwin, Professional Services Executive Manager

Jonathan Irwin

Esri Ireland, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provider, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Irwin as Professional Services Executive Manager for Northern Ireland.

Having worked at Esri Ireland for 17 years, Jonathan has progressed through a number of GIS consultancy, project delivery and customer management and development roles, culminating in this senior appointment. His technical background in GIS, remote sensing and software development provides him with a deep appreciation for the work and challenges encountered by GIS Consultants, while his most recent role as Customer Success Manager has added to his skills and experience in project, programme, resource and customer account management.

Jonathan has a MSc in Environmental Remote Sensing as well as a BSc in Geography. He is a certified Microsoft professional, scrum master and Prince2 project manager.
