Amazon Data Services Ireland Ltd (ADSIL) shows revenues increased 49% to €1.65 billion

With over 2500 employees in the Republic, and another 1000 new jobs to be created announced last year, it’s clear that Amazon has settled in quite well to its home in Ireland.

The company is thriving, as can be seen from its recent announcement that its main Irish unit, Amazon Data Services Ireland Ltd,  increased pretax profits by 30.5 percent to €39.46 million and revenues increased 49 percent from €1.1 billion to €1.65 billion. Globally Amazon recorded revenues of $232.9 billion last year.

Dublin and Cork Amazon centres

ADSIL operates several data hubs in Dublin and has secured planning permission for the first phase of a new €1 billion data services centre based in Mulhuddart, Co Dublin. Amazon also has a Cork wing, Amazon CS Ireland Ltd (ACSI), which saw growth last year as revenues increased by 11 percent to €119 million.

Plans for growth in Ireland

In March it was announced the group was close to signing up for a 200,000 sq ft office space at Charlemont Square in Dublin 2.

The majority of the 1000 new jobs recently announced will be located Amazon Web Services at Amazon’s Dublin sites in Blanchardstown, Tallaght, the city centre and north Co Dublin.
