Travelport Digital, a leading technology company serving the travel and tourism industry, announced further investment in its Dublin operations through the creation of an inside sales centre, during the month of November.

Travelport Digital is a Travel Commerce Platform providing distribution, technology, payment and other solutions for the travel and tourism industry. Travelport Digital was founded by the team that previously built Gradient Solutions, a leading airline internet booking engine company headquartered in Dublin, which went on to be bought by Sabre in 2000. Then-Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD officially opened its Dublin headquarters at Grand Canal, in February 2014.

The new sales centre will be supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland and will focus initially on growing Travelport’s small-to-medium-tier customer base across Europe. Initial hiring will target sales, account management and customer support, with 22 new positions expected to be created in the first year and further recruitment planned over the following two years.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys T.D., said:

I warmly welcome the news that Travelport is to expand its presence here in Dublin. Ireland is a vibrant technology hub, and this announcement is a further reflection of our attractiveness to companies operating in this sector. We have the skills and talent to enable companies like Travelport to grow and embed their operations here and I look forward to seeing their continued growth and success over the coming years.”

Paul Broughton, Director of Business Development for Europe, Travelport, said: “We are delighted to announce the expansion of our operations in Dublin. The creation of an inside sales team is proof of our commitment to the Irish economy and comes on the back of four years of strong results and development since we established our digital operations here. Our decision to locate this European inside sales centre in Dublin is also due to the availability of highly skilled people for these roles.”
