AerCap reports record quarter financials

AerCap reported strong financials for the fourth quarter of 2022 earlier this month. This came at a difficult period for the sector due to the Russian war in Ukraine. However, increased post lockdown travel demand has buoyed the indsutry.

Net income for the fourth quarter of 2022 at AerCap was €455 million, or €1.88 per share. Net loss for the full year 2022 was €668 million, or €2.78 per share.

Adjusted net income for the fourth quarter of 2022 was €593 million, or €2.45 per share. Adjusted net income for the full year 2022 was €2 billion, or €8.29 per share. The Aviation company also had a share repurchase programme authorised worth over €460 million.

“We are pleased to report a record quarter of results for AerCap,” said CEO Aengus Kelly. “Air travel demand continues to improve as more countries reopen their borders.”

“The strong performance across all of our business lines reflects how well our teams are working together to deliver an extraordinary number of transactions, and clearly demonstrates the success of the GECAS acquisition, the successful integration of the two companies and the recovery in aviation.”

“Broad-based demand, in tandem with a curtailed supply environment, is helping to drive lease rates higher across aircraft, engines and helicopters,” he concluded.

AerCap is the world’s largest aircraft leasing firm and boasts a portfolio of 3,532 aircraft, engines and helicopters.
