Rosheen McGuckian
Rosheen McGuckian has been CEO of NTR since 2013. Before this, she served as Group Business Development Director, a position she continues to hold.
McGuckian’s journey started when she graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Trinity College Dublin. She then studied at Dublin City University, where she graduated with a Master’s degree, and later a PhD in Change Management.
McGuckian was appointed Chief Executive Officer of NTR plc in April 2013. Since joining NTR in 2008, McGuckian has held a number of leadership positions, including Group Business Development Director and CEO positions in solar development, energy storage, water treatment, and waste management platforms within the group.
McGuckian was previously CEO of GE Money Ireland, the consumer finance division of General Electric. Before that, McGuckian led the business transformation initiative for Irish utility ESB Power Generation.
NTR plc
NTR plc was created in 1978 to develop and operate the first toll bridge in Ireland.
In the late 1990s, it pivoted into renewable energy, initially investing in wind through a stake in Airtricity, and later expanding into solar, bioenergy, and energy storage both in Ireland and internationally.
In recent years, NTR has concentrated on utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across Ireland and Europe, managing multiple funds such as the L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) Fund.
Today, NTR operates as a leading renewables-focused asset manager and investor, overseeing a diversified portfolio of wind, solar, and storage assets while continuing to expand its European footprint.
Recently, the company purchased a 105-MWp solar project in County Galway, Ireland, from the UK-based renewable energy firm RES. The project, which has secured both grid and planning approvals, is planned to begin construction in 2027 after additional design optimisations. The fund behind the development is a collaboration between NTR and the asset management division of UK-based financial services provider Legal & General.
