The index will acknowledge 100 of the top Digital Leaders in Ireland today.  Speaking on the importance of the 2021 CIO 100 Index, Maurice Mortell, Managing Director of Equinix said:

Maurice Mortell, Managing Director, Equinix

Maurice oversees Equinix in Ireland, leading on local strategy and expansion. Maurice also sits on the Equinix executive management team for EMEA. Within that group, Maurice leads Equinix’s sustainability program for the region, working with the global team to define and progress initiatives around environment, social and governance leadership.

Maurice came to Equinix from Telecity Group where he was Country Manager for Ireland, and later, VP of Emerging Markets. Prior to his role within Telecity, Maurice was the CEO of Irish data centre operator, Data Electronics, for over 10 years. As CEO, Maurice set the vision and strategy for the company, driving consistent business growth during his leadership tenure.

With over 20 years’ experience in the data centre sector, Maurice has been a key figure in the rise of the data centre industry in Ireland, and is highly regarded as a thought leader on Ireland’s potential to be a global digital hub.

Maurice is a graduate of Business Studies from the College of Commerce, a former board member of the Irish Internet Association, and former chairman of the Outsourced Services Group within IBEC. Maurice holds the 2012 ICT Excellence ‘Person of the Year’ honour, awarded based on his invaluable contribution to the ICT sector in Ireland. Maurice serves as an Executive Council Member for Host in Ireland.

Ashling Cunningham, CIO, Ervia

Ashling Cunningham is the Chief Information Officer at Ervia, the commercial semi state organisation with responsibility for gas and water infrastructure and services. They also provided dark fibre wholesale broadband through Aurora Telecoms.  

She has extensive experience working in manufacturing, services and utilities industries and has an IT and Finance background. Cunningham holds an M.Sc. in Management from Trinity College. Before joining Ervia, she held several senior leadership and consulting positions in international companies.

A regular speaker at seminars, conference and industry events on the transformational role of digital and technology, data and security, innovation and women in business, she is a frequent contributor to trade publications.

Dermot Hennessy, Director of Infrastructure, Flutter Entertainment

Dermot Hennessy is Director of Infrastructure, Flutter UKI, with responsibility for hosting all of the platforms underpinning Paddy Power, Betfair, and Skybet. A graduate of UL and UCD, Dermot joined Paddy Power in 2012, having been a consultant to that company from Accenture. Previous to this Dermot had a varied background in development and project management across sectors such as Telecoms, Travel, Automotive, Healthcare, Insurance and Banking.
