Paddy Power owner Flutter Entertainment has seen growth in profits as its US operations continue to gain ground.
Flutter Entertainment, the Dublin-based firm that counts Paddy Power, Betfair, and FanDuel among its stable of brands, has posted a $162 million (€152 million) profit for 2024
The company announced that its revenue has increased to 19 per cent for the year, to $14 billion, while average monthly players grew 13 per cent to 13.9 million.. This is due in part to the growth of its operations in the United States.
Peter Jackson, CEO of Flutter, said: “FanDuel remains America’s number one sportsbook with its leading product maintaining a clear structural revenue margin advantage over competitors. Outside of the US, our commitment to first-to-market product innovation led to market share gains in key markets including the UK and Italy, while in Australia, we saw encouraging trends in our player base”.
He continued: “We have had a great start to 2025, including record levels of customer engagement for the Super Bowl where FanDuel had 3 million active customers placing 17.7 million bets with $470 million wagered on the day”.
Flutter’s success in the United States comes at a time when more and more states are allowing legal gambling. The US supreme court annulled a federal ban on sports betting in 2018. Since that time, 38 states have legalised betting, with 30 of those allowing online gambling.
Flutter’s Irish and UK business saw an increase in revenue of 20 per cent, to $963 million, while adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization rose 17 per cent to $319 million.
