Technimark arrived in Ireland in 1987 with a base in Longford. Its 26 million euro investment will double the medical manufacturing facility there and create 80 new jobs. Technimark is our FDI of the month for November 2022.
Technimark, the plastic injection moulding company, began in 1983 as a small industrial moulder in North Carolina, US. The global company went on to establish offices in the UK, Germany, China, Mexico and across the US. It specialises in high-value injection-moulded packaging and components for the consumer packaging, healthcare and industrial markets.
The company arrived in Ireland in 1987 with a base in Longford. Recently, they announced plans to double the size of their medical manufacturing facility over the next two years, adding an additional 50,000 sq ft to their existing plant. This 26m euro investment will create 80 jobs and will expand the facility’s capacity for medical manufacturing processes including precision injection mounting, device assembly and contract manufacturing.
The company is also expanding its facilities in other countries due to a growing demand in the medical manufacturing market.
Brad Wellington, CEO Technimark, said the business is committed to growth in Ireland. He said: “Ireland is seeing pronounced growth in the medtech market, and our facility is ideally located to serve our customers in the region.”
Mary Buckley, interim CEO for IDA Ireland, commented on the news. “This investment positions this facility as a key strategic site within the Technimark Group, from which the company is expanding its healthcare manufacturing capabilities in Europe.”
