The latest digital edition of Business & Finance available.

Managing Editor, Sarah Freeman, writes:

“In this issue, we celebrate those shortlisted for the 49th Business & Finance Awards who will be recognised at the prestigious Gala Ceremony on 8th December. The Awards will play host to leaders, innovators and visionaries drawn from the worlds of business, politics, academia and culture. The ceremony will feature a number of special awards including the TK Whitaker Award which will go to Golden Globe winner Gabriel Byrne and the Sutherland Leadership Award to political scientist, Dame Louise Richardson.

We look to the theme of our magazine which is an exploration of Agile Leadership in a Changing World. Dame Louise Richardson DBE, President of Carnegie Corporation and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford and the University of St. Andrews, writes a fascinating piece asking the question, ‘Why Leaders Lead?’

We have contributions from Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath; CEO of Enterprise Ireland, Leo Clancy; CEO of Ibec, Danny McCoy and CEO of CPL Lorna Conn, amongst others, who look at the special economic relationship that exists between Ireland and the United States.

Also featured is a fascinating look at the risks and rewards of Artificial Intelligence and how it might be used to augment individuals, organisations and society, by Professor Michael O’Neill, UCD School of Business.

We have interviews with leading experts in Diversity, Equality and Inclusion, Kyran O’Mahony as well as Citizen Astronaut and STEM advocate, Dr. Norah Patten.

Our Deputy Editor, David Monaghan looks at the idea of AI and bias as well as lessons learned from Dublin’s Tech Contraction. I speak with thought leaders in Ireland’s cultural organisations to get their take on how Large Language Models are changing the world.

We feature the Business & Finance CEO 100 and Top 100 Companies indices, both of which represent excellence in the fields of leadership, strategy, business acumen and an ability to rise to the myriad challenges that have faced the business community over the past few years.

Included are a number of interviews, drawn from the book, Ireland INC, a History of Business, which give us a unique snapshot of the past with insights from Pádraig O hUiginn, TK Whitaker and Peter Sutherland. They explore the idea of leadership and provide some rich context to events and political developments of the recent past.

This issue offers insights into Ireland’s leading competitive advantage and the talent and innovative spirit of business leaders across industry. We hope you enjoy it.
