There were new and notable appointments this week at Esri Ireland, Bird & Bird, Facctum Ireland, Alice Public Relations and Europcar Mobility.


Patricia Cleary, Lifelong Learning Programme Manager,
Esri Ireland

Esri Ireland, the digital mapping specialist, has appointed Patricia Cleary to Lifelong Learning Programme Manager. In this new role, she will be responsible for leading and driving Esri’s Lifelong Learning Programme, which provides free access to Esri’s online digital mapping system, ArcGIS Online, for schools across Ireland.

She will also train teachers to use GIS as a tool, which will equip children will the necessary skills to become better problem solvers.


Michael Finn, IP Litigation Partner,
Bird & Bird

International law firm Bird & Bird has appointed IP litigation specialist Michael Finn as a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice in Ireland. He will start at Bird & Bird on 3 January 2023.

Finn joins the firm from Pinsent Masons where he was a partner in the IP and Commercial Litigation team. He specialises in complex intellectual property and technology matters, as well as domestic and international commercial disputes.

Finn also has significant experience in regulatory disputes and investigations, product liability and judicial review. He has acted on some of the leading disputes in Ireland and has extensive experience advising on Irish Commercial Court litigation and multijurisdictional mandates. He advises a range of international clients in the life sciences, technology and communication sectors.


Nicolas Willard, Director of Business Development,
Facctum Ireland

Nicolas Willard joins Facctum as Director of Business Development. Willard has over 30 years’ experience within the payments and sanctions space.

Prior to this role, he worked at Neterium as its Senior Business Development Manager. Alongside this he has held several positions throughout the years at SWIFT.

During this time with this organisation, he was Head of AML and Sanctions Solutions for EMEA, appointed Head of Small and Medium Business (SMB), and then most recently became an Agile coach for SWIFT.  


Dermot Ryan, Chair Board Directors,
Alice Public Relations

Dermot Ryan has been appointed as Chair of the Alice Board of Directors following a period of strong growth for the company. In recent months, Alice promoted Ciara Murphy to Deputy Managing Director and, in that role, she takes a seat on the Board of Directors alongside Dermot Ryan, MD Martina Quinn, and Non-Executive Director Raj Gosal.

Meanwhile, long-term team-members Emma Walsh and Sorcha MacMahon have been promoted to Senior Account Manager and Account Manager respectively, while new hires for the company include Louise Heatley as Head of Alice’s Northern Ireland office; Richard Lennon as Chief Financial Officer along with Áine Kenny, former Irish Times journalist and Emily Clarke, both as Account Executives.


Mark Newberry, Commercial Director for the UK & Ireland and Gavin Morgan, Head of Corporate Sales,
Europcar Mobility

As Commercial Director, Mark Newberry will have overall responsibility for sales and marketing of Europcar services in both consumer and business markets.

He will be reporting directly to Ron Santiago, Managing Director of Europcar Mobility Group UK and Ireland. Newberry will be helping businesses and private motorists’ transition into zero emissions through Europcar’s ‘try before you buy’ EV solutions.

In his new role, Gavin Morgan will be responsible for leading the Europcar Ireland Corporate Sales team. He will manage all aspects of the sales process for Business Fleet Services, Vehicle Replacement, Vans & Trucks, International Business Travel and Business Support.

After spending nearly a decade operating his own company and working with premium brands such as Land Rover, BMW and Volvo,Morgan joined Europcar Mobility Group Ireland in 2019.

Since then, he has played a pivotal role in growing Europcar’s B2B revenues, with particular focus on supporting corporate mobility requirements in the Logistics, Technology, Field Marketing and Professional Services sectors.
