This week sees new and notable appointments at Bank of Ireland, Matheson LLP, William Fry, Cairn Homes Group, Longford County Council, and Royal London Ireland.

Alan Hartley, Head of Customer Products
Bank of Ireland

Bank of Ireland has appointed Alan Hartley as its Head of Customer Products in its Commercial Business Division. In his new role, Hartley will be responsible for providing market-leading products and risk solutions to the bank’s commercial and corporate customers.

Since 2018, Hartley has been part of Bank of Ireland’s Retail Leadership team. He served as a Director of Home Buying and previously held the position of Commercial Director.

Shane Hogan, Managing Partner
Matheson LLP

Shane Hogan has been elected by Matheson’s Partners to be Managing Partner, with immediate effect. Before that, Hogan was a Partner and Head of Tax for the firm.

Hogan has been with the firm since 2000 and started as a trainee solicitor. He is now internationally recognised as a leading tax practitioner advising on the most complex tax mandates in the Irish market.

“Having started in Matheson as a trainee, it is a particular privilege to be appointed Managing Partner.  I am grateful for the confidence that my fellow partners have placed in me, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm as we build on our strong foundations and continue to deliver sustainable growth,” Hogan said.

Alma Campion, Banking & Finance Consultant
William Fry

Alma Campion has been appointed as William Fry’s Banking & Finance Consultant. Campion joins the firm from Matheson, where she was a Partner and, most recently, led the Knowledge Management & Innovation function in Matheson’s Finance and Capital Markets departments.

She brings more than 18 years of experience as a finance and capital markets lawyer. She advised domestic and international banks, financial institutions, and corporations on the following: cross-border leveraged finance, acquisition finance, project finance and real estate finance transactions, as well as deleveraging projects, restructurings and related regulatory work.

Commenting on her appointment, Alma Campion said, “William Fry has one of the strongest banking and finance practices in the market and a real commitment to investing in technology and new ways of working. I’m joining at a moment when AI and automation are changing how financial transactions are run, not just how they are advised on. I’m looking forward to working with clients on complex deals and on making the delivery of that work faster, sharper and better.”

Cairn has announced a series of appointments to support its continued growth and long-term ambitions. The appointments span finance, communications, legal, procurement & commercial, and digital transformation.

Elaine O’Brien, Director of Finance & Treasury, has built an international career in commercial finance, with senior finance and commercial leadership roles across listed and multinational businesses, including Grafton Group and L’Oréal.

Olivia Buckley, Director of Communications, joins Cairn with a strong track record in strategic communications and reputation management, having held senior roles with Aer Lingus, Banking & Payments Federation Ireland and the Irish Tax Institute.

Zoe Ennis, Head of Legal, has advised complex organisations on legal and commercial matters across both private practice and in-house leadership roles.  Her experience includes Arthur Cox and Amazon Web Services, where she served as Senior Investment and Acquisition Manager.

Sean Gavin, Director of Commercial & Procurement, has spent more than two decades leading commercial and operational teams in residential development.  His career includes senior leadership roles with Berkeley Group in the UK and, most recently, Managing Director (South) at London Square.

Hazel McGuinness, Director of IT & Digital Transformation, has led digital and business transformation programmes across multiple industries, including roles with Org Group (Abtran), AbbVie and Lakeland Dairies, specialising in digital innovation, data strategy and enterprise change.

Samantha Healy, Chief Executive Officer
Longford County Council

Longford County Council has announced the appointment of Samatha Healy as its new chief executive. Healy brings over 20 years of experience in senior leadership across local and central government in Ireland and the UK.

Since 2022, she has been serving as Director of Services with the Longford City Council. There, she has led major service areas and delivered strategic initiatives across housing, infrastructure, community development, climate action and corporate services.

“I am deeply honoured and delighted to be appointed Chief Executive of Longford County Council. I believe strong local government should be ambitious, responsive, and rooted in the needs of the people it serves,” Samantha Healy commented. “I want Longford to be a county where people can access quality homes, build rewarding careers, grow successful businesses, raise families, and thrive in vibrant, connected communities. Ger Tyrrell, Pensions Technical Manager
Royal London Ireland

Ger Tyrrell has been appointed as Royal London Ireland’s Pension Technical Manager. With over 15 years of experience in the pension industry, Tyrrell joins with prior experience at Zurich Life, where he progressed from pensions administration into the company’s Technical Services team. He then served as a Pensions Technical Consultant for the last 10 years.

“Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping Financial Brokers and customers understand the complexities of pensions and retirement planning,” Ger Tyrrell said. “Financial Brokers are working in an increasingly technical environment, and having access to clear, practical guidance has never been more important. I am excited to begin this new chapter with Royal London Ireland and to work with the team to continue providing technical support and insights that help brokers deliver the best possible outcomes for their clients.”
