“There’s always a way” – 60 Seconds with John Callahan, President and CTO, Partsol Global

John Callahan is President and Chief Technology Officer for Partsol Global, the software company that supplies decision-makers with fast, reliable intelligence tailored to their unique challenges, allowing for better informed choices.

What was your first job?

I was a computing and network support analyst at the university where I was completing my degree. Within a few months of starting, our manager got promoted, and I was selected as the replacement.  We had a group of brilliant young Computer Science majors staffing the office, and I thought that they could be doing so much more to help the university. So, we started to push the envelope a bit, and got the attention of leadership, and within a year we were running the information technology infrastructure for the technology and engineering campus across 15 buildings, and operating a student-led consulting business with industry and government clients.

What pushed you to pursue a career in this field?

I have always had a passion for tech and my career has allowed me to gain experience across different sectors – security, cyber, supercomputing and research. I served as the managing executive for strategic initiatives at the Information Sciences Institute, primarily known for the creation of ARPANET, the foundation for the internet. I also spent two decades helping lead US government special projects in special intelligence, work that laid the solid foundations for my transition to Partsol.

What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

Overseeing the engineering and development of ATAI (Absolute Truth AI), Partsol’s flagship technology platform, has been an important milestone in my career. ATAI has the potential to completely transform the future of AI through delivering precision-driven solutions to high stakes industries. To date, we have successfully run over 400 mission critical projects for the US government without a single failure – an impressive achievement that speaks to the quality of our tech.

Career-wise, would you do anything differently?

The vast experience I have gained across different sectors has given me a unique perspective on the industry. It has also revealed to me what’s missing – highly reliable and accurate AI solutions. It’s great to have the opportunity to bring the ATAI platform to Ireland as our European HQ, and then into the UK and Europe.

In one sentence, how would you define success?

Success is loving the perfection of the process that achieves the extraordinary, and loving your people (family, colleagues, clients) to a degree where doing the extraordinary matters.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

It’s a double-barrelled answer: “There’s always a way” and “Nothing will work unless you do.”  It sums up the role faith in the undiscovered must play for any entrepreneur and technologist but that most people fail to find it due to difficulty of refusing to believe one’s efforts have not reached the extremes where innovation hides.

How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

Remaining focused on Partsol’s mission is a key motivator for my team and I. In an industry increasingly crowded with copycat approaches lacking true innovation or scientific depth, Partsol is an outlier. Our long-term vision and methodical, research-driven approach position us to make lasting contributions to the field of AI, rather than simply chasing short-lived market trends.

How do you handle adversity?

The tech sector is constantly evolving, bringing unprecedented challenges with it. AI is volatile, so adapting quickly, staying agile in strategy and mindset, and fostering innovation and flexibility in your work and organisation is the best way to navigate uncertainty. Meeting challenges head on, whether personal or professional is critical. The balance between data and humanity is also important, the data guides us but leading with emotional intelligence is key.

How do you relax?

I have a two year old daughter and a five month old son, and a seven month old business in Ireland.  I moved here in May and am really enjoying living in Dublin. I think our next innovation needs to be an AI tool that helps me relax!

What are your aspirations for the future of the business?

Expanding Partsol’s presence in Ireland is a key priority for us in the short term. We recently announced the creation of 25 new high-skilled roles and we’re committed to continuing our investment in local talent. Ireland offers a unique competitive edge, particularly in terms of its highly skilled workforce and progressive regulatory environment, which we intend to leverage as we keep building and advancing. We have set our sights on the UK market in 2026, followed by Southern Europe.
