Rachael Moore is Dublin City Manager of Airsorted takes on the Business & Finance 60-second interview challenge.


Q. What was your first job?

I was quite entrepreneurial and wanted to have my own pocket money so I started babysitting in my neighbourhood when I was 15, It taught me the value of hard work and responsibility from a young age – I amassed quite a few clients and ended up babysitting through university too.

Q. What would you regard as your greatest achievement to date?

Moving to Airsorted earlier this year. From a personal perspective, I was moving to a new city and entering a totally new industry, whilst professionally I was getting to grips with a new company and managing a new team. I took the bull by the horns and at the end of Q1 this year, we’re in a really healthy position both financially and structurally. Our properties have increased more than 70% since January this year and our team has grown to include seven.  I’m immensely proud of this collective achievement, which is as motivating as it is rewarding entering into a record Q2 for Airsorted Dublin.

Q. In three words or less, how do you define success?

Acknowledgement, achievement, acceptance.

Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

When building a team, you should hire for attitude, and train for skill.

Q. How do you motivate yourself and your staff?

Working at Airsorted, whilst enjoyable can like any operational role be demanding. We put our clients at the heart of everything we do and are constantly giving 100%. With this in mind, I’m lucky that my team are incredibly passionate about what we do and are a constant source of motivation. Airsorted has a wonderful company culture – nights out, trips to the theatre, opportunity for travel, benefits for pet owners. Rewarding hard work, dedication and results with clear career development paths alongside regular opportunities for personal growth is a big priority of mine for the team here, and it’s something I’m proud to be developing as we grow our Dublin footprint.

Q. If you could step into the shoes of one business person for the day, who would it be and why?

My older brother, Mark is co- founder and CEO of a tech product called ToothPic. He has been a constant source of inspiration to me growing up and continues to be one of my biggest supporters. I learn from him every day, and I’m sure I would benefit from being in his shoes, even if only once.

Q. How do you relax?

Travelling is my number one hobby, and I try to get away as often as I can. The opportunity to work overseas was a big plus when I made the decision to join Airsorted. All employees are encouraged to visit our other markets so we can explore the cities we operate in. Currently that’s 16 cities from Dublin to Cape Town, Auckland to Toronto and we’re set to increase this to 38 by the end of next year.  It’s very important to be able to disconnect from work to boost motivation and creativity. On a normal weekend you’ll find me cooking up a storm and entertaining friends and family.

Q. What are your aspirations for the future of your business?

Airsorted is constantly growing and evolving and I’m excited to play a part in shaping its next steps, both here in Dublin and within the broader company. Business is booming, and that’s certainly evident with the growth we are experiencing here in Dublin.

Our output in Dublin is certainly moving in the right direction and my short-term goal for the coming months is ensuring we continue on this upward trend, onboarding more properties and increasing awareness of our product. Long-term, so looking at the next one to two years, I’d like to introduce new Irish cities to our portfolio and continue to hire well.
